This Memorial Day weekend, our Pappy Al was honored for his service, and our parents traveled to Pennsylvania for the event. Of course our dad was up to his usual shenanigans by torturing his sisters at every opportunity - ask our Aunt Debby if she'll serve him any more desserts ...

Happy Mother's Day!

A little late but not forgotten, Ava wanted me to show everyone the things she crafted for our mom and I, starting off strong with a card each. She said "Let them know these aren't for sale either, I just want them to see what I can do."

Following those is an idea that has apparently been rolling around in this kid's head for a full year, but she couldn't figure out how to explain what she wanted to Gramma (who was a fantastic gift assistant - there were many phone calls to coordinate this effort). Pictured is the photo that she drew and sent over to aid in the project description, along with the placemat sewn by Gramma to truly bring Ava's idea to life. I'm meant to screen AppleJack onto it for added effect. And also, bonus look at Tex the Tiny Taco. She's very pleased with him.

Lastly, there were of course custom frames done for Gramma. Those characters are a sneak preview of the book she's writing, so prepare yourselves for that adventure!

We've got a great mom here at the shop, and the kid that made me a mom is pretty dang fantastic too. ❤️

We went to Ava's art show at her school yesterday, where there were student-led art activity tables as well as the art by the kids that was on display. Ava said "Mommy, can you take pictures and put up my art on our thing so people can see it?"

So here it is, her art made just yesterday. Let her know what you think!

Happy Easter! Ava made us cards, and she wanted to share her artwork. She said "Make sure the people know that these ones aren't for sale since I made them for you, but show them what I can do!"

Ava is in the chorus for her school musical tonight, and she had options on her costume. One choice was to be a "gamer." This one is easy: a headset and a video game shirt. This was the product of her design idea paired with my ex*****on. She's pretty pumped about it.

Our youngest artist is 9! Of course her party theme is the one huge movie that they make practically no merchandise for, so we got crafty. Shirt by me, decorations by Ava.

It may be Super Bowl Sunday, but the real competition of focus is the Family Fantasy Football League, because I got this wonderful gem finished and presented it to ... myself. Lucky me.

When I made the "dead last" plaque last year, it was funny because our dad won it. It's not as funny this year writing my team name on it. 😆

When I tell you that this sign is speaking to me today, I mean that I just got told that my child's school is closed *again* ... she hasn't gone to school all week because it's too cold (oddly enough, the foot of snow we got isn't to blame anymore).

But aside from being pretty much stuck in this house (I'm sure as heck not going out in to -15° unless I have to!), I'm trying to find the beauty, right? I get uninterrupted time with a pretty cool kid. We've played loads of My Little Pony. Also, she's let me work and has done her own work next to me. She's writing a graphic novel. I'll let you know her publishing date.

So instead of being absolutely insane over the fact that this has completely derailed my entire week, I'm choosing to be thankful that I've got the flexibility to be here when she needs me, and that she still wants me to play.

But if anyone wants to share their "out of the house" stories, I'm very ready to live vicariously through you!!
