The Northstar build finally made it through inspection.

For approximately six seconds.

After that, management informed me the table had been reassigned to the dog division.

Apparently it would look great beside a dog bed.

And also...

I don't have seven routers...

One week of milling, fitting parts, layout changes, and a whole lot of sawdust.

Projects always look questionable right before they come together.

At some point you just stop buying normal things 😂

Started as one of those “this should be quick” projects and somehow turned into maple, walnut, custom details, and way more hours than a toilet paper holder had any right to require.

Built from scratch from rough stock to finished piece.

I thought we were making progress in the shop today...

Apparently I had committed a serious HR violation.

Missed lunch.
Skipped walk break.
Supervisor intervention was immediate.

Northstar build status: on track.
Shop Supervisor status: fully fueled.

Walked into the shop with a brand new project idea.

Shop Supervisor requested a review of unfinished builds, cleanup status, photos, and several open investigations.

I’ll be honest... the boss isn't always wrong.

Sometimes it's less about starting something new and more about closing a few loops first.

Still got denied though.

She stared at me for a long time…
then approved a production run of one hundred.

I don’t ask questions anymore.

Shop supervisor stopped by mid-build.Had a few… notes.We worked something out.Back to it.

Finished this walnut + maple tray and I’m really liking how the contrast came together on this one.

Solid hardwood, mitered frame, and a clean profile that works just as well on a coffee table as it does on an entryway.

Simple piece… but it does its job right.
