✨ NOW THIS is a transformation! ✨

When we first looked at this space at Cortez Street Emporium, it was a dark blue box filled with boring old shelving. 😳 We knew immediately we could turn it into something that felt like Makin Time Antiques!

So… out came the shelves, goodbye dark blue, and the transformation began!

Over the last 24 hours, Marc, Missy & David worked tirelessly building walls, laying flooring, painting, hauling, decorating…and hauling some more. 😅

And just LOOK AT IT NOW! ❤️

What was once a dark, boring shelving cubicle is now a cozy little vintage shop within a shop — complete with vintage doors, warm wood walls, our antique mantel and lots of character.

And the best part? We’re EXPANDING!

This beautiful new booth is an additional Makin Time Antiques space at Cortez Street Emporium, designed to complement our current booth and give us even more room for antiques, vintage treasures and those one-of-a-kind finds we love bringing in.

We’re tired. We’re sore. But we are pretty darn proud of what the three of us accomplished in 24 hours! 🥰

Now comes the fun part… filling it up!

Current project… because apparently I don’t know how to do anything small. 😂

Working on the walls for a new Makin Time Antiques booth! We started with all that beautiful raw wood, and now everything is getting a soft whitewashed finish. I wanted to lighten it up without losing all those knots, grain and rustic character.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but I can already picture it all put together and filled with antiques and treasures. ❤️

I found a reproduction Paul Revere silver tray and gave it a good polish. Instead of using it for serving, I put it on my bathroom counter to corral all the little things—perfume, earrings, barrettes, and other everyday essentials.

It’s amazing how one simple vintage piece can instantly make a countertop look more elegant and organized. Plus, everything is contained in one spot, so cleaning the counter is quick and easy.

Sometimes the best decorating ideas come from giving old pieces a completely new purpose. ✨

“Leave it to Avon to think outside the box…”

These aren’t just candlesticks…

They’re actually cologne bottles!

Back in the 1970s and ‘80s, Avon sold men’s cologne in these gorgeous ruby red glass “candlesticks.” Once the cologne was gone, you popped in a candle and had a piece of home décor instead of an empty bottle headed for the trash. They were part of Avon’s popular 1876 Cape Cod Collection, which blurred the line between fragrance packaging and collectible glassware.

Talk about recycling before recycling was cool.

Honestly, companies just don’t package products like this anymore. Whether you love or hate Avon collectibles, you have to admit… they were pretty creative.
