Usually during the winter months I will take on design jobs since the real estate market is slow. Last year I started working with a good friend from high school. He is an extremely talented man, built his first home at the age of 20 and recently started up his own custom home building and remodeling company. If you have worked in this industry at all, you will know how hard and utterly frustrating it is to find good contractors. Chris Ahlbrecht with Superior Contracting is a superstar. He is in constant communication with his clients, shows up on time, works hard, delivers good quality work and most importantly, I love his attitude and the way he treats his clients and sub contractors. If issues arise he does not get bent of out shape. He just takes care of it. He's the calm in the storm. I HIGHLY recommend working with him!! Here is a project we worked on together last year. I assisted in all of the design finishes in this house. I am very pleased with how it all came together and thankful he chose me for the job!

I meant to get this post up earlier in December to inspire everyone, but December was insane for me and honestly, not only did I not get to the blog, I didn't even get to my own front porch!! However, here are 4 lovely friends of mine who did get to it, and it just wouldn't be right if I didn't share these fabulously styled porches with you all. Thank you Jenay, Jence, Erin, and Amber for letting me capture your beautiful porches. You all have exquisite taste, and I can't wait to incorporate some of this decor into my own front porch holiday looks!! If anyone else has a great front porch please take a pic and post in the comments! I want to see it!!!!

I consider myself mediocre at most things, terrible at maybe a couple of things... Basketball- my 5 foot height and lack of vertical don't really give me any advantage on the court. Singing is another one. No vocal gift there. My toddler once begged me to quit singing a lullaby to them, and my whistling often leaves my husband in complete laughing fits. But I can say that I have mastered one thing. . I have a gift. I can walk into any room and I know exactly how that furniture should be arranged. Excuse the iPhone picture, I didn't have my dslr, but this is a client's living room from today. Using her existing pieces our goal was to stage it in a way that opened up walkways, made the room feel larger and photographed better. The left side opens to the informal dining space so by placing the chair to the left of the fireplace we were able to open up that left hand side. feels so great to walk into now!
