Make it Monday....

I think it has been atleast 6 weeks since I have been able to work on anything other than miniatures! April was an incredible but non-stop month of sewing and creating tiny things. I miss creating other things but orders pay the bills and keep the store open 🙃
Today, for the first time since early March, I am not working a flex day to catch up on the Weekends orders. Terry put all my Saturday orders in the mail and I am focusing on other things, like the garden and roasting a chicken for dinner, enjoying the slower pace of life we are here for. I realized last week that it has been over 6 months since I have done any quilting, so here is a throwback to some gorgeous placemats I made a year ago ❤️

Make it Monday.....on Tuesday.

We didn't get home until yesterday evening and exhausted from a very busy and exciting weekend I didn't get to post. Some Mondays might be filled with making memories, and reliving them rather than making physical things. It had been 12 years since we had been to a make a wish reunion with Kurt and Brenda Warner. We have lost 2 sons, moved out of state, married off 2 daughters, welcomed 2 grandsons....opened a shop, paid off 3 mortgages etc. Lots has happened in those 12 years, some good and some very, very difficult. On our trip we also visited lots of places that hold precious memories for us.

Make it Monday....

Monday has become my flex day....a day where the shop isn't open but I am here busy working on orders....mainly for miniatures, which seem to be an extremely popular addition to the shop. And of course when sewing in this scale I have gained a lot of new patience and skills.

Make it Monday....

Cha-ching! There are a million teeny, tiny things on my work table, quite literally, and while I love all the orders I look forward to when it dies down a bit and I can get a bit of other creativity in, like finishing this quilt I started well over a year ago and still need to finish! Having said that, I will likely be working extra days until the My Mini Baby craze dies down a bit, sewing the teeniest, tiniest shirts, hats, sleepers and onesies for 2.5 inch dolls! Maybe when my pattern testers for my new pattern are done I will get a bit of a break as other people have more designs available to sew 🤔 I can always hope!

... I missed make it Monday!

We had an extremely busy day driving to get bricks for the front garden and by the time we got home I just needed to sit down and relax and I got so involved in my sculpting projects I forgot to post for Monday 😳
Sculpting has been dwindling for several years due to the happenings of life and the pain of carpal tunnel. But lately I have felt both inspiration and urgency to get my loved ones, most especially my children sculpted. This has led to a lot of time going through old pictures and reminiscing the days when they were small and filling our home with mischief and laughter. It is still amazing to me that with my hands and a few tools I can create beautiful things that can have tremendous impact on people.

Make it Monday!

I have been working on this little set for a while. I will finish the bands on the onsie when I am back in the shop Wednesday but currently I am working on this adorable little duck toy to complete the set! I love it when I am able to match any toy to my clothing sets!

Make it Monday!

Since I am still very busy sorting, pricing, stocking and cleaning at the shop for our 2026 opening day (Wednesday, March 25th) this is a project for another day. I want to get this beast of a machine operating again. Of course, I want to work on my knitting machines which I haven't been able to do since before Santa season and of course I need to work on an outfit for Colt's 1st birthday 🙃

I NEED FEEDBACK! As many of you know I like to source USA products whenever possible and try VERY hard not to stock anything "made in China". I have the opportunity to stock AMERICAN GROWN, MILLED and PRINTED knit fabrics (and possibly others). I would be able to price them at similar to my European import knits at $26.00/yd but I need to know if I will have any customers at all. The cost to me as a business is significantly higher than my European imports but the Cotton is grown here and the who process supports American made, which is important to me, but, I can't be the only one using them. I so miss the days of the $2 fabric store. AND this fabric looks and feels BEAUTIFUL. It is Organic Cotton with just a touch of spandex and compares in feel and quality of the top European import knits and I can have them print designs from my graphic artists! What are your thoughts?
