My son Aiden was only 5 years old when I started this business. He literally grew up watching me build this.
We would drive up to two hours away Thursdays through Sundays to attend vendor events. He spent long days and early mornings helping me put up tents, unload everything, set up displays and pack it all back up just to do it again the next day.
I would find him a little corner, set him up with his homework, snacks, and his iPad, and that became our normal.
He came to photo shoots with me. He came to TV appearances and got to meet the hosts. He helped me put barcode stickers on products when I started getting my candles into stores. He’s been my photographer. He spent long days and weekends with me at my candle shop inside the Midwest Market.
And then, he started coming up with his own business ideas.
Sometimes when we hear “support small business,” it becomes just another phrase we say.
But there are real people and real families behind these businesses.
When you buy a candle from me, book a candle-making experience, attend one of my events, share one of my posts, recommend my business to someone, bring your friends in, or simply tell somebody, “You have to go check out Ambitious Vibes”
You are supporting us.
This business helps me take care of my son.
And even beyond that, you’re helping me show him what is possible.
And now my son talks about the business he wants to open one day, a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch.
Aiden knows exactly what it means to build something special.
He knows what it looks like to pack the car, put up the tent, sit through the slow days, keep showing up, keep creating, keep promoting and keep believing that what you’re building can become something bigger.
Because he watched his mom do it.
So when I say thank you for supporting my small business, I hope you know how deeply I mean it.
You didn’t just help me open a Candle Bar.
You helped a little boy watch his mom build a dream in their hometown.
And maybe we’ll all be sitting in his restaurant eating breakfast one day.
