She’s fluted 😍 just like I imagined!
Secure? No. But pretty? Heck yes!

I’m not in the mood to be a problem solver today. But if you have ideas on securing the back more permanently, but not completely permanent, I’m open to suggestions!

I made a cushion!? 🤩 Trust me, I’m just as surprised as everyone who doubted me!

While, I can take credit for ex*****on, I cannot take credit for the design. I watched hundreds of hours of ’s YouTube video titled “How to Make Boxed & Welted Cushion for Upholstery”. I would have been lost without it!

Next major step is creating the back cushion, which won’t just be a simple cushion. HA! Of course not! Stay tuned.

We have a bench! 🛠️

At least now we have a place to sit, but the challenge of sewing a bench cushion is still ahead 😳 Would you take a crack at sewing your own or hire a professional?

Proof that sometimes all it takes is a fresh top to turn the whole table around. ✨This is a great project if you just want to dip your toes into refinishing, without the commitment of refinishing an entire piece.

My process:
1) clean with decreasing agent
2) Remove old finish & stains with
3) Sand 80>120>220 grit with
4) Stain using Gel Stain in Nutmeg x 2 coats
5) Added worn look with 1 layer of Weathered Oak
6) Another coat of Gel Stain Nutmeg to add back warmth
7) Topcoat with 3 coats of Water-based poly

*remember to sand & wipe down between everycoat*

Home takes time.
Something I have to constantly remind myself—especially here, in the land of perfectly styled scrolls and Pinterest-worthy snapshots.
This carousel is a reminder to me more than anyone else: what you see isn’t a quick weekend makeover. It’s been 3 years of layering, tweaking, saving, living, and learning to be grateful for an imperfect space. So I get it if you’re feeling like your home isn’t worthy of sharing with the internet. I at least encourage you to open your doors to people you love. Homes are so much more than a link for purchase or latest “deal” in your inbox. They are places to grow, rest & gather. Unfinished doesn’t mean unworthy.

This fireplace makeover has been in the works for over a year! , folks. We demoed during our kitchen demo & it’s basically sat untouched with ugly patched drywall for a year. The cooler weather lit a fire under our butts (pun intended) so we got to painting the interior firebox black which made a HUGE difference & the new gas log set made it look brand new! The file touch was installing the faux brick tile surround 👌🏼 I can’t wait to decorate for Christmas!
