There’s something really special about designing for a 13-year-old who’s been watching, waiting, and dreaming from the sidelines. She’s not just stepping into a new room—she’s stepping into a space that finally reflects her own voice, her own style, and everything she’s been quietly envisioning all along. ✨
Finley has been following along for years as I designed spaces in her home for her mom—always asking, “When will it be my turn?” 💕 She came prepared, too… Pinterest boards lined up, and a vision ready. This year, for her birthday, that wish came true.
It was so important to create a space that doesn’t just feel perfect for 13, but will carry her beautifully through high school. The duvet truly set the tone—pulling together every color she dreamed of while acting as a piece of abstract art and a focal point that complements (not competes with) the stunning trim wall we added - obsesseddddd with that paint color. (Thank you, Keith for squeezing this in for us!!)
We layered in the softest, most feminine blush tones to tie everything together, and the lighting might be one of my favorite parts— a floral fandelier paired with the most fun stacked petal lamps that completely stole my heart. 😍
We updated the furniture with a fluted white oak bed and dresser, added larger glam nightstands for extra storage, and patiently waited for the perfect scalloped rug to echo the curtains. Every detail works together to make the room feel bigger, brighter, and so beautifully her. We added a shelf above her vanity to add some height, and threw in some beautiful watercolor Charleston prints throughout.
Happy 13th, Finley! 🫶🏻✨🌸
