Josh Hildreth Interiors At the heart of our firm is a lifelong belief in the power of design to uplift the human experience.

Josh Hildreth lives his passion every day as an interior designer. He began in 2005 by founding a commercial interiors firm whose mission is to transform healthcare and workplace environments with interiors that emphasize beauty and encourage collaboration. At the heart of his firm and residential practice is a lifelong belief in the power of design to uplift the human experience. This ethos has inspired decades of study in the decorative arts, from classical antiquity to 20th-century modernism, and Josh draws on that rich cultural perspective to help clients reimagine their homes. But before he chooses the first paint sample, Josh spends time with his clients, getting to know them, their daily rhythms, and the way they use (or avoid) each space in their home. As ideas unfold for improvement, the first step is assessing the existing architecture: Is the fireplace mantel out of scale? Would the flow work better if a doorway were moved? “Study the envelope,” he says, because if the proportions are off, no amount of décor will make the space feel better. From there, Josh designs space in layers of texture, finishes, art and fine furnishings. He calls upon an extensive range of resources to find custom and period pieces: Old and new live together; rough and smooth find the right ratio; the perfection of imperfection is quietly understood. The end result is all about achieving a client’s practical needs while broadening their notion of what’s possible. “I see my role in the creative process as genial guide,” he says, “revealing new ideas and room elements to my clients that allow them to realize the living potential of their homes.”

As Josh interprets his client’s desires, he has a staff to ensure the project is meticulously executed. His team includes interior architects, project managers and procurement specialists who provide turnkey support from the first meeting to the final installation. Josh is also the president of a full-service interior architecture and design firm, DMG Interiors. The firm includes the design of healthcare, hospitality and workplace environments.

Good morning from Lady Mia Reay’s kitchen at Whittington Hall.

What I love most here is the way the kitchen has been allowed to become a true room within the house rather than simply a place for cabinetry and appliances. In many homes we design, large islands and breakfast rooms make perfect sense, but here — in a historic English home where the formal dining room sits elsewhere — Mia has created something softer, more relaxed, and deeply cottage-like in spirit.

A generous farmhouse table, wicker chairs one can actually move and live with, pillows encouraging you to stay longer than intended, snacks left out, papers on the refrigerator, dogs underfoot. Nothing feels over-styled, and that is precisely its charm.

And threaded quietly throughout it all is Mia’s beautiful new wallpaper inspired by antique Delft tiles — bringing that sense of age, familiarity, and English eccentricity gently into the room.

A practical kitchen, yes. But also a deeply personal one.

As summer 2025 comes to a close, I find myself craving a calmer, kinder world. One place I return to for serenity is Billy Baldwin’s Nantucket living room.

With thoughtful restraint, Baldwin turned modest bones into timeless beauty. Crisp white walls make the space feel weightless, while a mix of classics — 18th-century cockpen chairs, a tall case chest giving the room its skyline, and a black lacquer Chinese table — add richness and depth.

Comfort always came first: sofas perfectly arranged for a nap, a book, or a long conversation.

This Labor Day, I hope we each find a quiet space to recharge — and carry back into our communities a renewed spirit of kindness, grace, and civility.

Welcome, Virginia style.
Our old farmhouse is less about decorating and more about collecting, loving things for the way they’ve always been. An 1810 Federal red-brick home that breathes history—where a threadbare rug soaks up muddy paw prints, and doors at both ends pull in the Blue Ridge breezes. It’s not curated, it’s lived in—and that’s just how we like it.

I am belated in posting this to my FB account- something very special happened earlier this month! Our retail brand Peace & Plenty was selected as one of the top home stores in the US by House Beautiful Magazine. Look for our listing in the September issue! It was a great surprise. It also made me very grateful for all of the people who have worked very hard to build this new business. Deepest thanks to each and everyone of our clients and for the friendships that have been formed at Peace & Plenty events.❤️

This late Fall, our first Peace & Plenty salon will open at the new Dmg Interiors & JHI offices in Georgetown. Special thanks to my incredible partner in life and all dreams Rick Robinson❤️. Thank you also to Victor Sanz who has supported and innovated the effort from Day 1. Thank you to dynamo Anya Huffman for showing up at our High Point pop up as an intern and then coming to work as our first full time Peace & Plenty everything! Gratitude for Audra Trammell and Emma Allnutt who gave great work and support and are now pursuing exciting next chapters. Thank you in our office to Kathleen Miller, Robert Cox Shadi Bahar, and Annie Kastner Clayton for helping whenever called upon to jump in. And special thanks to this gang off AMAZING friends: Ashley Hunnicutt, Stephanie Lynton, Penelope Williams, Gregory Brooks Adams, Michael Sullivan, and Erin Smith❤️
