I could be this mermaid with the amount of laundry I do on a daily basis because of my tiny human; I swear they have a personal vendetta against clean clothes! It's like they think the washing machine is a magical portal that spits out fresh outfits every hour. I'm starting to think I need to invest in a second washer just to keep up with the never-ending piles of dirty laundry. Does anyone else feel like they're drowning in a sea of tiny socks and stained onesies?

The use of “soft” and minimal lighting can truly elevate the ambiance of a space, making it feel airy and weightless, allowing you to breathe in deeply and unwind. This carefully crafted atmosphere is not only visually stunning but also creates a sense of serenity, perfect for relaxation. Scale and proportion play a crucial role in achieving this delicate balance, as they can make or break the overall aesthetic. When done correctly, the result is a space that is both calming and impactful, making it truly unforgettable. Here are a few remarkable examples that showcase the power of thoughtful design.

On Jan 23, 1931, architects became their iconic skyscrapers at NYC's Hotel Astor! William Van Alen as the Chrysler Building, Leonard Schultze as the Waldorf-Astoria, and more. Defying the Great Depression's gloom, they celebrated modern architecture's innovative spirit.

Other notable figures in this architectural parade included Leonard Schultze as the Waldorf-Astoria, Ely Jacques Kahn as the Squibb Building, Ralph Walker as 1 Wall Street, and William F. Lamb as the Empire State Building. Despite the financial gloom of the Great Depression, these designers literally became their buildings for one night to celebrate the innovative spirit of modern architecture.

Repost

Salvador Dalí had two great loves in his life: his wife and muse, Gala Dalí, whom he married in 1934, and his home overlooking the bay of Port Lligat.

What began as a cluster of small fishermen’s huts slowly evolved into Dalí’s white, labyrinthine seaside refuge on Spain’s Costa Brava. Over decades, the artist transformed the space into a surreal environment filled with symbolic details: from giant eggs perched on the roof to rooms oriented toward the sunrise over the Mediterranean.

Inside, zigzagging staircases, narrow corridors, and even a taxidermied polar bear reflect Dalí’s playful obsession with perception, mystery, and beauty.

Preserved today almost exactly as Dalí and Gala left it, the house remains suspended somewhere between the real and the dreamlike, part home, part studio, and perhaps the artist’s most personal work of art.
