Getting the news out of the blue yesterday that Painted Tree Boutiques was closing immediately really upset and shocked me. I know they had been having issues for several months - but the way they handled everything is just wrong. I cannot help but think about the thousands of vendors across the country who are hurting right now and trying to figure out where to go from here.
Opening that space was a dream come true for me because I had the opportunity to showcase my products without having the overhead of a brick and mortar store. The concept was a great one and it should have been successful but the greedy corporate owners just wanted to open more stores while not supporting the vendors they already had. It breaks my heart that they could do something like this all while continuing to collect rent and commission on sales. Filing for bankruptcy doesn't happen overnight. They knew what they were doing.
That being said, I really want to thank everyone who has ever supported me in any way. I will still be around the community at various festivals and you can always contact me if you're looking for something specific. To any vendors who were also blindsided, I am truly sorry you are going through this. It's a devastating loss and it's completely unfair. But we will rise above. Good luck to all of you!
So long Painted Tree. It's been fun. I will miss my cute little booth F22.
