Been working on a few things behind the scenes. Along with being busy with the end of the school year, baseball finishing up, and getting stuff in the garden. Haven't had a lot of time to pop on here.

Its that time of year! Getting outside in your yard and graden sometimes means coming across so not so friendly plants. So I got some batches of soap and balm together.

Anti-Itch Tallow Soap and herbal tallow balm with plantain & jewelweed

This soap is made with Beef tallow, Jewelweed infused olive oil, lye, poppy seeds to help with itching, lightly scented with lavender and tea tree essential oils (I will also have an unscented version available.)
Just the basics. 🙌

What is Jewelweed?

Jewelweed (impatiens capensis)
AKA spotted Jewelweed or spotted touch-me-not (a reference to the seed pods popping open at the slightest touch)

It's commonly found growing near stinging nettle and is a natural antidote for poison ivy and poison oak. Native Americans used the plant to relieve itching and irritation associated with poison ivy, stinging nettle, and insect bites.

Tallow is extremely moisturizing and anti-inflammatory. 🐄 Also soaps made from animal fat are knowm to work better to remove the oils from poison ivy from the skin whereas some soaps made with only plany oils can just move the oils around.

I've been one of the lucky people to never get poison ivy *Knock on wood* but my husband gets it and in return so do my kids! I wanted to make something natural for them that I'm comfortable with using and not questioning what is in it.

This sun block is made with Non-Nano Zinc Oxide the active sun protective ingredient for a skin-safe sunscreen. It's a safer option than traditional sunscreen as it does not pe*****te the skin and enter the bloodstream making it safe for kids and babies!

Tallow contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, and its rich in fatty acids which nourish and protect! Tallow is extremely moisturizing and anti-inflammatory.
