To all my gems, thank you for your patience and kindness. On October 9, my family laid my brother, Matthew, to rest.

Matthew was part of The Hidden Gem’s story, too. He once worked on staff, helping keep our Salem Avenue shop nice and clean, and served as a board member for Elsewhere by Design, the community organization THG supports. His presence and care are woven into this journey, and he will be deeply missed.

I still plan to open The Hidden Gem Boutique & Studio this month, with limited hours and primarily private shopping by appointment.

Thank you for the love many of you have shown my family and me, and for your patience as I continue to settle in. I look forward to welcoming you soon. 💚💎

Transforming this little thrifted table into something a with a little more character & color. First step: painted the base gold. I already like it more! Next up the top will get a refresh 🎨

At O. Winston Link Museum for the opening reception of my son, Bryce’s Art Exhibit “Rooted in Roanoke” on Saturday night.

On the way out, my design eye spotted the chair on this exhibit wall celebrating Raymond Loewy’s iconic designs,—and I immediately thought of a similar pair of chairs currently at THG that I scored through a friend months ago. Timeless lines, then and now. 💎

By the way, do yourself a favor and check out Bryce’s work in collaboration with David Massey and the students of Noel C. Taylor Academy on exhibit in O. Winston Link’s lower level until November 14th.

Great design like art never goes out of style!
