I hope everyone is doing their best to keep cool today.

I’d like to talk a bit about license plates and the Rustic Bird Houses I offer for sale. I am very appreciative about how well received these are by everyone and the many positive comments people share with me at the Forest City Farmers Market / Colonial Village on Fridays and the Beloit Farmers Market 2026 on Saturdays.

Many people have asked me to make custom birdhouses using a license plate they provide - this may be an option for everyone! Just stop by and visit with me at one of these two Markets or message me through Facebook Messenger. There is no up charge or custom order fee - I give a $1 credit when you provide the license plate.

If you are so inclined…… think about that license plate from your first car! or your antique car! or your first muscle car! or that classic car! The license plate from any car can be used! If it’s special to you ~~ it can be memorialized on a birdhouse in your yard!

Exclusive Product Highlight

Product: Rustic Birdhouse

Background Story: A number of out of service license plates came into my possession several years ago. In a creative moment I started designing a birdhouse with license plates highlighted. I experimented with perches, finishes, sizes before settling on the current design.

Design Highlights: The entrance hole is intentionally sized for small birds at 1.25”. The perch for the bird is made from deer horns ~ to make them last, I have varnished them. This helps diminish the chance of the deer horn dehydrating and most importantly, discourages squirrels. The bottom is easily removed for cleaning by loosening two brass screws. The birdhouse mounts to a tree, building, fence, post or wherever you want it with a sturdy brass screw.
