Earth, 20 by 20 inches acrylic paint on canvas, by Taintor Davis Child, 2019 This is the first painting that launched the last 5 years of my studio work. It has been 5 years painting in a radial format in order to explore the elements of nature and symbols. This did not just happen, I spent many years prior making mandala pendants, embroidering mandala designs, sewing buttons to berets, painting many smaller flower faces, making flower pins with repurposed plastic and buttons, and now I remember that as a kid I taught myself how to create crudely developed beaded mandala's inspired by native american jewelry....
