Nothing quite beats autumn in the Upper Peninsula Autumn reaches its peak color between September and early October making this season the best time for a road trip through the Upper Peninsula.

A few favorite spots to enjoy the colors include Brockway Mountain Drive on the Keweenaw Peninsula, where endless canopy views stretch all the way to Lake Superior. The Porcupine Mountains and Lake of the Clouds offer a view that's hard to beat when the maples turn bright red. The Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks show contrasts between autumn trees, waterfalls and the cliffs of Lake Superior. M‑119 and County Road 510 provide backroads if you just want to drive through tree‑covered tunnels.

Remember to grab a pasty and some c***r, along the way!

Want to plan a weekend visit to Wickenburg, Arizona?

If you'd like to get rid of the noises of the city and experience the atmosphere of the old West, with its beautiful desert landscapes and excellent local food, here's a simple two-day itinerary to make the most of your weekend!

Saturday: Experience the spirit of the cowboys. Visit the ghost town. In the morning, have breakfast and coffee in town before going to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum to view some Western art and find out about the area's history. Before you leave the downtown section, take a photograph beside the well-known Jail Tree! In the afternoon, go back in time by taking a tour of Vulture City Ghost Town and seeing the mining buildings and the historic ruins from the 1800s. In the evening, finish the day with a dinner at Anita’s Cocina for Mexican food and margaritas or have a steak with a craft b**r at Wissota Chophouse.

Sunday: Explore the desert nature and taste some local food in the morning, take a calm morning walk through the Hassayampa River Preserve. It's one of the green areas in the Sonoran Desert—ideal for watching birds and strolling on easy paths! At midday, have a meal at the Spurs Cafe to keep your energy up for the rest of the day. In the afternoon, walk along the historic Frontier Street to look at the handmade shops, the old items and the special stores before returning home.
