Update: finished up the window today with a 2nd coat of paint and weatherstripping. Pretty happy with how it all came out. I used pretty much all reclaimed lumber and hinges. Plus I like to try and keep the vibe of the 1930's style.

It’s been a quiet winter over at Lumberchuck’s.
Between the cold weather and still working on finishing up the garage , projects slowed down for a bit. But I’ve still been tinkering when I can.

I found a old widow in the trash a while back, and I decided to use it for the back wall of the garage.

So while doing the pallet wall interior I framed in a spot for the window. To keep it simple the old window will just open with hinges.

So far the whole project has only used reclaimed lumber.

It may not be perfect, might be a little out of square 😬 and still needs paint, but I’m pretty happy with how it's turning out.

Every project is a chance to try something different and get a little better.
That’s what Lumberchuck’s is all about. 🪵🔨

Happy New Year from LumberChuck’s 🪵🔧

I’ve been a little quiet lately, but for a good reason. When I’ve had the time, I’ve been out in the garage getting the workshop ready for spring. The goal will be to show more projects and vintage items for sale.

What cool projects are you working on ?

🪚🏷️ Armada Flea Market Haul! 🏷️🪚

Found some good items today!!!

Some vintage gas & oil chemicals for my collection.

The vintage Red Devil Paint Scraper is in great shape, just need a little cleaning and I'll be using in the shop.

The vintage Rayovac Flashlight works great and will come in handy around the house.

The most i spent was a buck or two for each item.

Buying secondhand isn’t just easy on the wallet—it’s a great way to keep quality items out of the landfill and in the hands of people who appreciate them. 🌍♻️

Keep your eyes peeled for these vintage finds popping up in future builds. There’s nothing quite like giving the past a purpose.

Not every project needs to be perfect to be worth doing.
This splitting maul restoration isn’t flawless — but I learned a lot along the way, and that’s what LumberChuck’s is all about.

It’s not about showing off perfect, polished pieces. It’s about being honest with the process and hopefully inspiring others to try something new.

On this project, I experimented with a few firsts:

Boiled linseed oil and wax for the handle finish

Paracord wrap for grip

Acrylic markers for lettering

Wood burner for a custom touch

Now this maul is headed up north to split firewood for my father-in-law — and it’s ready for work.

If you’ve been wanting to try your hand at a project, go for it. You’ll learn, you’ll grow, and you might just end up with something you’re proud of — even if it’s not “perfect.”

🪚🏷️ Estate Sale Haul! 🏷️🪚

Hit up a few estate sales and found some real treasures for LumberChuck’s — vintage Stanley tools, classic Craftsman gear, and even some old-school Coleman pieces. 💪🧰🔥

These tools aren’t just cool—they’re built to last and full of character. I’m excited to give them new life in some upcoming projects.

Buying secondhand isn’t just easy on the wallet—it’s a great way to keep quality items out of the landfill and in the hands of people who appreciate them. 🌍♻️

If anyone has any old lumber that's in your way and you want to get rid of let me know. It would be helpful in finishing the interior of the garage.

Thank You!!

🪓 New Project Kickoff! 🪓

I’m starting small but strong—literally—with this vintage STANLEY 56-801 8lb splitting axe head. It’s got some age, some rust, and a whole lot of character. The plan is:

🔹 Clean up the casting
🔹 Sand and smooth it out
🔹 Fresh coat of paint
🔹 New handle
🔹 And finally… bring it back to life for wood-splitting duty at our lodge up north 🌲🔥

This one’s all about giving new life to old tools—and putting them back to work where they belong. Stay tuned for progress pics!

🌞 Busy Summer, Quiet Shop — But Don’t Forget About Lumberchuck’s! 🪵

I may not be building projects just yet, but I’m hard at work behind the scenes—fixing up the shop so it’s ready to roll this winter! 🛠️❄️

It’s all about making a cozy, wood-filled home for future creations. So hang tight, stay tuned, and don’t let this woodchuck slip your mind! More fun and projects are on the horizon. 🌲✨
