My friend Karen taught me this little trick and I’m passing it on to you for FREE!

✨ 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗔𝗡𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚:

1️⃣ Arrange all your pieces just the way you want.
2️⃣ Snap a quick photo with your phone.
3️⃣ Disassemble everything.
4️⃣ THEN take your photo as a template and glue it all back together!

Sounds ridiculously easy, right? But this little trick has saved me from about a million wonky bows, misplaced embellishments and flowers glued right where they DIDN'T belong. 🤦‍♀️🌸

I used this trick for every single embellishment on this Halloween witch boot! 🧙‍♀️👢

𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦 𝗧𝗜𝗣: We also used double-sided tape to hold the pieces while the hot glue cooled. A little crafting hack in a crafting hack! 🙌

Ever forget to mirror your design and end up with a perfectly cut design that is totally BACKWARD? 😅🙋‍♀️ You are definitely not alone!

I’m sharing a full step by step tutorial for this cute Halloween wood sign and here’s why I love using HTV on painted wood:

🧡 𝗡𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱! The carrier sheet holds your design in place.

🧡 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴! Remove the excess vinyl without the usual hassle.

🧡 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴! Need to adjust your design? No problem!

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: 𝗜 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀… 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱. 😂

This little Dollar Tree find was cute as it was, but four 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 made it the star of my Halloween mantel. 🎃🧡

And I mean 𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘁𝘀!

My friend asked me the other day if I glob on thick paint to avoid streaks, but y’all… it’s quite the opposite. Thin layers dry faster and give you a much smoother finish.

✨ 𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗽: Trace your letters in pencil before you begin painting.

The pumpkins and letters blend into each other without any real end or beginning. So those two minutes with a pencil can save you twenty minutes of frustrating touch ups later. Trust me on this one!

I used a Velcro dot to attach the finished sign to my buffalo-check canvas so that when December rolls around I can just swap it out for the Christmas one. 🎄

🥳 I FINALLY used the scrap wood pile!

Confession: there was a pile of scrap wood in our garage that I felt a little guilt about every time I walked by it. You know the one, the “I’ll use that someday” pile. 😅

Well... that day finally came!

I cut the planks to size, added some little cut-out edges just for fun, and painted everything in my favorite Halloween colors: white, black, and the prettiest spiced pumpkin orange. 🧡 The post was painted a moss-green color.

Even better? The words are cut on my Silhouette out of scrap vinyl so this project used up things I already had lying around. Then I sealed it all with Polycrylic because it's going outside, screwed the planks to the post and tucked it into the front yard.

✨ Total time: under 2 hours max.

The pile in the garage is smaller.
The yard is cuter.
And Halloween is taken care of. 👻

I love whimsical Halloween not creepy and this one is right up my alley. 😃

I made a set of four plates with words like "𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘆" 𝗮𝗻𝗱 "𝗪𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱," and they're already sitting pretty on my mantel!

The best part? If I make a mistake or want to change it, I can just peel the vinyl off and start again. No commitment, no stress. Just fun crafting! 🙌

I went into Dollar Tree for 𝗚𝗜𝗙𝗧 𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗦… and came out with three little wooden rolling pins. 😂🙃

Apparently, the craft aisle got me AGAIN.

But to be honest? I’m not even pi**ed about it. 🎃

I had just seen decorative rolling pin decor in a catalog for $𝟭𝟮.𝟵𝟵 𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛. 😳 Y’all… EACH!

So I decided to make my own.

✨ $2.29 acrylic paint
✨ Vinyl lettering cut with my Silhouette
✨ A little ribbon
✨ 3 wooden rolling pins
✨ 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 $𝟭𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹!

And look how cute they came out! Now they’re the stars of my Halloween tiered tray. 🖤🎃

🎃 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀… 👀✨

It’s the 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴! 🤍

It looks like some fancy boutique technique, but here’s the secret:

It’s literally just 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘇𝗶𝗴𝘇𝗮𝗴. That’s it!

No special tools needed.
No complicated stitches.
No expensive supplies.

Just a needle, some twine, buttons, and a little patience. 😉 I like to mark where the buttons go with pins first so everything stays nice and even.

The rest of the project is just as easy:

🧵 Two cotton fabrics sewn into a leg shape
🧸 Stuffed nice and plump
🤍 Finished with the button lacing
🎀 Topped with a big layered-ribbon bow
🌸 Finished with a pretty faux flower

Machine sewing for the body, hand sewing for the lace, and a little hot glue for the bow -- 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁!

And the end result? 😍 It looks like something out of a cute Halloween boutique.

❄️ 𝗔 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝟮𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀! ✂️

Turn a plain canvas drop cloth into the cutest handmade snowflake ornaments. And the best thing? Most of the supplies you probably already have at home. 🤍

So the basic idea is this:

✨ Cut 2 circles from a canvas drop cloth.
✨ Stitch a basic snowflake on one using embroidery floss and a simple running stitch.
✨ Glue the edges with Fabri-Tac, leaving a small opening.
✨ Stuff with Poly-Fil.
✨ Add a ribbon loop to hang it.
✨ Seal the opening with glue and stitch around the edge.

No need for fancy embroidery skills or complicated techniques just simple stitching and a little creativity.

Each one takes about 𝟮𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 once you get in the groove!

🎃 𝗔 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱...

I made these little Halloween pillows for our neighbors during Covid and honestly, they were one of the bright spots of that whole weird season. ❤️

We’d all gotten closer through driveway visits and porch drop offs and I wanted to make them something that just said, “I’m thinking of you”, without being, you know, weird about it. 😂

I grabbed some scraps of fabric, a bag of Poly-Fil, and some pom-pom trim. I printed a few simple shapes- a ghost, a pumpkin and a witch hat- and began hand-sewing.

The stitch? Just a simple whip stitch. Nothing special !

Tried to sew the pom pom trim on my machine first… BIG mistake. 😂 It was a disaster. I went old school and hand sewed it on. Much better!

And the best part? It cost me under $2 to make each one! 🎃

I stuffed them, sewed them up, and left them on the doorsteps. Three of my neighbors still put theirs out every October, which makes me smile every time. 🥰

Then Emily saw them and immediately wanted to make a batch for her volleyball team instead of candy this year.

So… I’m making more! 👻🎃🧙‍♀️
