Sometimes a simple “before and after” picture can’t capture the entire story that lies behind a project.
These end tables might look familiar. They were navy blue in a previous life. Ring any bells? Swipe ⬅️ to see pics!
So many people were interested in the end tables when they were navy blue. My messages were flooded with people wanting to come check them out. But then they would come to see these beauties that I worked so hard on, and they changed their mind. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed that they didn’t sell. But I also don’t want someone buying my products if they don’t 100% love them.
Rather than sit in the disappointment, I decided to turn it into a win. A friend of mine was asking for donations from local businesses for her church’s preschool fundraiser. These end tables immediately came to mind.
So, I gave them the makeover they needed from the beginning. I sanded them down, scrubbed them clean, and got to work. I left some chippy navy blue paint underneath, then applied two coats of off-white paint, and lightly distressed them. This process left them with a beautiful clean finish, and lots of character. I love how you can see hints of the wood and navy blue paint peeking through. Plus, with the proper sanding, cleaning, and priming, I am now 100% confident that they are the top-notch high-quality product I want to put out into the world!
When you LEARN from your mistakes instead of commiserate over them, you give yourself the opportunity to move on! Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get something right the first time. Just make the necessary adjustments and keep it moving sister!
If you’re local and interested in the end tables, send me a DM and I’ll give you the info for the fundraiser!
