🔥 A little fire. A little history. A whole lot of woodgrain.
Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient Japanese technique traditionally used to preserve and protect wood siding. By carefully applying fire to the surface of the wood, the outer fibers are charred, creating a natural layer of protection against moisture, insects, and the elements.
For us, it’s also a beautiful way to transform a piece of wood.
We carefully torch the surface, then use water and a brush to remove the loose char, revealing those gorgeous layers of black, brown, and natural woodgrain underneath. The result is a finish that feels both dramatic and organic — and somehow makes everything you place on it pop.
We absolutely love this technique and have been using it on boards we’re creating for Bear at Auberge Stanly Ranch.
And today, we’re introducing a brand-new board at Constellation Marketplace. 🤎
Constellation has become our little testing ground for prototypes — a place where I can introduce something that has never been to market before and see how our community responds.
And the timing feels pretty perfect. 👻
This one is a little dark, a little moody, and just right for Halloween season.
Approximately 5¼” W × 12” L × ⅞” thick
$21 + tax
But what I love most? Put a beautiful piece of cheese, fruit, charcuterie, or a few little bites on that dark surface and suddenly… everything pops.
So, I’m curious — are you a fan of the Shou Sugi Ban look?
Tell me in the comments: 🖤 YES or NO?
Available exclusively at Constellation Marketplace while this first batch lasts.
Made by a human, with fire, for humans. 🔥
