Man Glitter Studio

Man Glitter Studio Transforming raw wood into biophilic "Grainscapes", blending grain, color, and species to highlight the beauty and diversity of natural wood.

My work begins where nature leaves off. I create impressionistic landscapes contrasting the natural grain of multiple wood species as both canvas and collaborator. Each biophilic piece starts with a careful study of the wood’s surface — the movement, texture, and patterns already suggest horizon lines, flowing water, cloud forms, or distant hills. Using primarily dyes and stain, I build upon the o

rganic features of the wood’s grain to evoke atmosphere, light, and emotion. The result is a kind of quiet narrative — landscapes that feel discovered rather than invented. These “grainscapes” are meditative by nature, inviting the viewer to slow down and connect with something both familiar and timeless. Each piece is one of a kind, grounded in authenticity, and shaped by a dialogue between hand and material. I work primarily with locally felled trees and reclaimed lumber. When starting with whole logs, I mill them myself — a process that allows me to shape the material from its rawest form. That connection to place and process becomes part of the story within each finished piece. It keeps my process grounded in sustainability and connects each piece to the region where it’s from. Based in the Historic Kenwood neighborhood of St. Pete, I am an active member of their Artist Enclave and a retail gallery artist at Florida Craft Arts. My goal is to make biophilic art that brings the outside in, helping people see the extraordinary in the subtle grain of things. Every Man Glitter Studio piece reflects my continued evolutional journey of craftsmanship and artistry and are titled, signed, dated, and branded. A little bit about the poet:
Brandi Askin is an emerging poet whose work has been featured in Free State Review, One Art, Saw Palm, and others. Her poetry has been nominated for the Best New Poets Anthology of 2026. Brandi spent her childhood riding waves without a surfboard in St. Pete. You might find her chatting with anhingas as they sun-dry their wings by the neighborhood lake. Find her at brandiceaskin.com

A little bit about the exhibit:
Scott’s work begins where nature leaves off. He treats each piece of wood as an inspirational source, the canvas to create and ultimately, his collaborator. Every piece starts with a careful study of the wood’s surface—the movement, texture, and patterns in the grain suggest horizon lines, flowing water, cloud forms, or distant hills. Using primarily dyes for color, he builds upon these organic features to evoke atmosphere, light, and emotion. The result is a quiet narrative: landscapes that feel discovered rather than invented and somehow nostalgic though never really seen. These “Grainscapes” exist in a space between chance and intention—where natural history and his own perception converge. His goal is to make biophilic work that brings the outside in, inviting viewers to slow down and connect with something both familiar and timeless. In these pieces, landscape is not a place, but an emergence.

Hope to see you there!

Come see Scott Solary’s Debut Solo Exhibition at Forever Florida Gallery. The work begins with a simple but radical premise: the material is not passive.

Come out & see a few of my latest pieces. Pictures don't quite capture how well glass works in a Grainscape. I'll also have quite a few new smaller pieces as well.

I think I forgot to mention my website is up & running. I'm doing my best to keep it up to date.
