I have some big news to share with all of you.
After much thought and prayer, I have made the decision to close My Comfy Boutique. I’ll share more about the boutique and the closing later, because this little business—and all of you who have supported it—deserve a proper goodbye.
But today, I want to share what comes next.
I have begun a five-year journey of schooling to earn my Master’s degree in Theology and become a chaplain.
I truly believe God has called me to do this.
Now, anyone who knows me knows that I don't tend to choose the easiest path! I will be 72 years old by the time I finish school and am ready to begin this new work. There are moments when I look at five years of school ahead of me and think, Lord, are You sure about this? But I believe that because God has called me to do it, He will also give me the strength, determination, and ability I need to finish it.
This is without question one of the hardest goals I have ever taken on—but I also believe it may be one of the most worthwhile.
Although my education will prepare me for the broader responsibilities of a chaplain, I already know where my heart is leading me. I don't feel called to spend my days behind a desk or take on every traditional responsibility that may come with the role.
I want to be in the hospital rooms.
I want to sit beside adults and children who are sick, frightened, hurting, or simply need someone there. I want to be there for their families, too. I want to listen when they need to talk, pray with them when they want prayer, offer comfort when I can, and sometimes just quietly sit beside someone so they know they aren't alone.
After everything life has taught me, I believe this is where God wants me to use those experiences.
So, at 67 years old, I am closing one chapter of my life and beginning an entirely new one.
Five years of school. A Master's degree. A new career at 72.
It sounds a little crazy when I write it down.
But sometimes faith means saying yes before you can see exactly how you're going to get there.
And I have said yes. ❤️
