The house is back to normal… Even caught up with laundry 🧺. I’ve been taking advantage of the last 2 slow days. Reading, planning my next drawing, stretching, cooking and getting ready for a camping trip Monday.

I kinda like it when the world slows down.

Christmas calories don't count, right?

I wore all the dresses, I wrapped all the presents, I ate all the food, and I drank all the drink! This year was full of family and friends! I couldn't ask for a holiday more bursting with festivities.

Until next year...

Today was perfect in every sense. Calm but productive. Quiet and complete.

A beach walk with my girlfriend… Worked on my Thanksgiving table… Put lights on the trees... saw Wobbie off to Texas and now it's me time 🛁

My girlfriend and I love to go to a local restaurant Fisherman's for their bucket of clams and fresh bread. I was determined to re-create it myself. The biggest surprise is how easy it is to make something like this.

Market
* 2 lbs small clams manilla, steamers, littlenecks
1/2 stick butter
1 shallot finely chopped
2 heaping Tablespoons chopped garlic
1 c dry white wine
1 lemon
Chopped parsley

1 fresh baguette and butter

Method
* Fill a large bowl with tap water and some cornmeal. Put the clams in it. This will help clean out any sand or dirt from inside the clams.
* In a large pot, melt the butter. Add the garlic and shallot, sauté until fragrant about 1-2 minutes.

* Add the white wine, bring to a boil. Next, add the clams. Cover and steam until the clams have opened (about 7-10 minutes).

* Squeeze half a lemon over the steamed clams and sprinkle with the chopped parsley.

* Serve with baguette

Dipping your bread into this butter, wine sauce is pure heaven.

Lemon Chicken Soup with Pearl Couscous.

Market
Heavy drizzle evoo
2 Shallots
2 tbsp Crushed garlic
1 White onion. /dices
1 Lemon/ juiced, and zest
Shredded chicken
Fresh parsley
8-10 c Chicken stock
One cup Rice Select pearl couscous
Salt and pepper to taste

Method
Sauté onions and shallots in olive oil
Once translucent add garlic.
Add add chicken broth
Add lemon juice
Salt, pepper
Add chicken

Add cooked couscous.(see method below.)

Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon zest

Pearl couscous cooking method
One cup dried pearl couscous, toasted in 1 tablespoon olive oil add one and a half cups water or chicken broth. And turn heat down to simmer. Cook until liquid is absorbed, then fluff remove from heat.

I like to keep the pearl couscous separate from the soup so that it doesn't absorb the liquid. I add everything to a bowl when ready to eat.

A whirlwind 72 hours that I will never forget.

Thank you to my girlfriends for taking the time and making the trip. Thank you for the flowers, the candles and the cake that made our table so beautiful. Thank you for making it all possible.

Living in Southern Orange County, California autumn seems like an elusive word… It's still warm and balmy out. But there is a slight shift in the suns direction. The tourists have gone home and the kids are back in school. I feel like this handful of photos and videos perfectly sum up San Clemente's fall season.

October is breast cancer awareness month. I am religious about my mammograms and screenings. And I'd like to share three stories with you. In order of photos. First one being myself.

While I've had a couple of biopsies, I continue to have healthy breasts, just wanted to join the fun. Enjoy 😉

Next is my mom❤️. They discovered isolated cancer in one of her breasts, and she made the decision to have a radical mastectomy with no reconstruction. So lucky she caught it early and gets to grow old with me.

Third is my girlfriend, Lisa. Lisa had cancer in her right breast and had a lumpectomy. The doctors took all lymph nodes from her under arm which they found more evidence of cancer. After Chemo, radiation and a drug called Herceptin, Praise God she is 18 years BC FREE🙌🏽

Fourth is my bestie Jenna. She got breast cancer and carries the BRCA genetic mutation that makes her more prone to breast and other cancers. She went through a radical double mastectomy and hysterectomy, multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation. While in remission found out it spread to her bones and after another year of immunotherapy and radiation, she is currently cancer free but will have to fight for the rest of her life. Her cutie patootie oncologist is treating her with everything he has. While her life is greatly affected by this disease, she continues to keep on Truckin. I'm so proud of her.

You only get one life! And one body! Take care of it ( . ) ( . )
