October is breast cancer awareness month. I am religious about my mammograms and screenings. And I'd like to share three stories with you. In order of photos. First one being myself.
While I've had a couple of biopsies, I continue to have healthy breasts, just wanted to join the fun. Enjoy 😉
Next is my mom❤️. They discovered isolated cancer in one of her breasts, and she made the decision to have a radical mastectomy with no reconstruction. So lucky she caught it early and gets to grow old with me.
Third is my girlfriend, Lisa. Lisa had cancer in her right breast and had a lumpectomy. The doctors took all lymph nodes from her under arm which they found more evidence of cancer. After Chemo, radiation and a drug called Herceptin, Praise God she is 18 years BC FREE🙌🏽
Fourth is my bestie Jenna. She got breast cancer and carries the BRCA genetic mutation that makes her more prone to breast and other cancers. She went through a radical double mastectomy and hysterectomy, multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation. While in remission found out it spread to her bones and after another year of immunotherapy and radiation, she is currently cancer free but will have to fight for the rest of her life. Her cutie patootie oncologist is treating her with everything he has. While her life is greatly affected by this disease, she continues to keep on Truckin. I'm so proud of her.
You only get one life! And one body! Take care of it ( . ) ( . )
