‘What the dickens! ‘ has nothing to do with the great English novelist, author of Great Expectations, David Copperfield and Oliver Twist. ‘Dickens’ was once a euphemism for the devil and the expression is first found in print in Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor: ‘I cannot tell what the dickens his name is’. Cool bit of trivia. Love my little Dickens collection.

Our Story

I have always been a voracious reader and lover of history and art. I came across these books in 2008 and instantly fell in love with them. Each book is a piece of art and history all rolled into one. And that leather book smell is intoxicating! The books look amazing in any type of home decor from vintage to modern. Many of the books are incredibly detailed with gild and ridges, and some of them have smooth lines and come in bright colors. Working with these books is a dream come true.
