Can we talk about accessorizing for a second?! Because this is one of my absolute favorite things to teach and once you understand it… your whole home starts to look and feel so much more intentional! 😊

Let’s use the coffee table as our example today… but I want you to know these principles apply EVERYWHERE. A console table, a bookshelf, a mantel, a bedside table… anywhere you are styling, the same rules apply!

So here is the big one that most people miss… VARY YOUR HEIGHTS. Please… I am begging you!! LOL! 😂

When everything sitting on your coffee table is the exact same height it creates zero visual interest. Your eye has nowhere to travel… nothing to discover… it all just sits there looking a little flat and a little boring if I am being honest! But when you have something tall, something medium, something low… maybe a stack of beautiful books with a little object sitting on top to add some height… suddenly the whole thing comes ALIVE. Your eye moves around it. It feels layered and intentional and collected. THAT is what we are going for!

And then here is the part that really makes a styled vignette feel special… the personal touches. Because beautiful accessories are one thing… but accessories that actually MEAN something? That is next level.

On my own coffee table I have a gorgeous bronze plate with a tiger that takes me straight back to my career as a designer… and my great grandfather’s pocket watch. Every single time I look at those pieces I feel something. They tell a story. They make my home feel like MINE… not just a pretty room from a catalog. And that is exactly what I want for you too. 🤍

Style with intention. Vary your heights. And do not forget to weave in the things that fill your heart with memories… because THAT is what takes a beautifully styled space from gorgeous… to deeply personal. R I G H T?! 😊

Can we talk about the space underneath your staircase for a second?! 👀

Because I am willing to bet that RIGHT NOW it is either stuffed full of random things you have shoved in there and forgotten about… or it is just sitting there completely empty doing absolutely NOTHING for you. Am I right?! LOL! 😂

Friend… that space is a GOLD MINE and most people have no idea!!

Now listen… I will be the first to admit that the architecture of that space is tricky. The angles, the slopes, the awkward ceiling height… it is not exactly the most cooperative spot in the house. BUT… with a little creativity and a whole lot of gusto… that dead space can become one of the most charming and functional spots in your entire home. And I have the projects to prove it!!

In past projects I have literally cut into the wall under a staircase and turned it into a gorgeous built in china cabinet… I have transformed that same kind of dead awkward space into a full bar situation… and honestly the list just goes on and on. Every single time the result is something that makes people stop and go WAIT… that used to just be… nothing?! 😂

That is exactly what I love about design. It is not always about having the perfect home handed to you… sometimes it is about looking at what you HAVE and asking… ok what could this BE? That creative thinking… that willingness to see potential where other people just see an awkward slope under some stairs… that is what separates a house that is just fine from a home that is genuinely spectacular. R I G H T?!

Sometimes you just need a little creativity, a little courage, and someone in your corner cheering you on to make it happen.

Oh I am just going to say it… There are two things I see people get completely BACKWARDS when it comes to where they put their money in their home… and I CANNOT stay quiet about it anymore!! 😂

The first one? ELECTRONICS. Oh my goodness… I can not tell you how many times I have walked into a home where someone has spent an absolute FORTUNE on the biggest television they could possibly find… and meanwhile the rest of the room is screaming for help. LOL! I understand it… I do. Sports happen. The game must go on. But friend… that TV is not doing anything for your room. It is not grounding the space. It is not setting the tone. It is not creating that feeling of warmth and beauty that makes you walk in and just exhale. 😊

And the second one? AREA RUGS. This is the one that really gets me because people think… well I am just going to walk all over it anyway so why spend real money on it? And I want to gently but firmly say… NO MA’AM. LOL!!

Your area rug is one of the most important pieces in the entire room. It literally grounds the whole space. It can set your entire color palette. It anchors your furniture and gives the room a reason to make sense. A good rug can make an entire room feel pulled together and intentional… and a bad one… or worse… NO rug… can make even the most beautiful furniture look completely lost. R I G H T?!

Spend less on the TV upgrade, and invest in the rug. TRUST me on this one. 🤩
