❤️ Paris protesters dye fountain red to signify Gaza bloodbath.

❌ STOP ARMING ISREAL. The US provides roughly 70% of Israel’s weapons. My tax dollars are killing children, doctors and civilians in Gaza.

A satisfying before/after slideshow. We utilized modern paint colors with new countertops and updated light fixtures to freshen everything up. By removing the upper cabinets in the kitchen, and replacing the solid kitchen door with a glass door to let in more light, it makes the entire space feel so much more spacious. Top it off with the best staging by .still.collective and voila ✨ 124 W Blithedale Mill Valley, CA is ready for market

🌏 Refill + sustainable goods store on 4th Street in San Rafael! ♻️

Somehow this went under my nose for the last 3 years (June is 2, so I guess that makes sense 🙃).

I recently came around to shaving cream (always used soap before) so I’ve been looking for a shave BAR to avoid the plastic and they had several options here. ✔️

Packed inventory with many cute gift ideas. I love a consumable gift (ie candles or bar of soap), so this is my jam.🍓

The owner, Dan makes his own extensive line of skincare 💚💚💚 Will let you know how we like the products after using.

I can also get down with a sassy sign.

Go check it out!

Luv yaz,
Kyle

This R-rated magnet 🌈 is not a recent addition to our fridge, yet seems to get more and more relevant.

It’s eff’ed that I get to raise a daughter in peace, safety and abundance on Miwok land. 🌲

It’s eff’ed knowing families in Gaza are literally trapped, experiencing unknowable, unthinkable suffering. 💔Their culture and people annihilated, on our watch, with my tax dollars. And meanwhile I get to make oatmeal and teach the ABC’s to my 2-year old.

It’s eff’ed to come to terms with the fact that I live in a country that actually wants a person like Trump to be their president. 🇺🇸 Republican v Democrat, whatever. But just the PERSON that Trump is. Dumbfounded.

My favorite translation of om 🕉️ feels tragically far away at present, but I’ll write it anyway:

“I honor the place inside you in which the entire universe dwells. It is a place of love, of light, of truth and of peace. And when you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are one.” 🕊️

You are they and they are you. WE ARE ONE.

Everyone take L*D and eff’ing figure it out, please.🦄

Keep on keepin’ on,
Kyle

🙏 Shout out to Steph Snyder who first introduced me to this dharma translation.

Shopping for scrap countertops! We love scraps. We often make dinner from scraps. We rescued a scrappy dog. And Will is also great at surfing scraps. Our kitchen sink and surrounding tile is super old and hard to wipe clean. By shopping scrap countertops we will save a bunch of money (in this case ~$1,500), and it guarantees that what we pick is in-stock 😛 The downside being there are limited options. But we are ok with that because this is basically a patchwork solution, anyway. This is what you do when you’re 39 weeks pregnant, right?

Adventures in cloth diapering awaits 😱
Are we scared? Yes. Is it gonna be worth it? I guess we’ll all find out, soon enough.

After much research, I decided to go with the diapers. I liked that they started as a laundering service in NYC and really have the all-in-1 laundry equation dialed!

While I would have considered a cloth diaper delivery service, we are located outside most service areas. So it’s a DIY situation for us

I am motivated by environmental reasons (diapers are the THIRD LARGEST single consumer item in landfills), but did you know cloth diapering actually saves you money?!! Some little known benefits…

✨ BENEFITS ✨
Saves💰— Disposable diapers cost between $1,800-$3,300 per year 🤯 With cloth diapers you have the upfront cost, and then you are all set.

Saves time ⏰ (like days-of-your-life time) — A baby in cloth diapers is likely to potty train 1-year earlier (!) than a baby in disposable diapers. That’s approx. 1,460 fewer diaper changes. Um, yes please.

Note I did not get the “starter kit” from Esembly. I cherry-picked from Esembly’s products after doing some research:

From Esembly:
* Inner diapers (24)
* Outer diapers (6)
* Washing powder
* Washing agitators (balls that go in machine)
* Pail pouch (to store the dirties til washing time)
* Pail pouch deodorant

From other sources:
* Wet/dry bags (2) for travel outside home (I liked this shape more)
* Washable flannel wipes (24) …if you are laundering diapers, might as well launder wipes, too!
* Spray bottle (repurposed) to spray a homemade bum solution on wipes
* Diaper rash cream (I was gifted Weleda as “the best” diaper rash cream, so I’ll start there)

Note we DO plan to buy a supply of disposable newborn diapers to cover the first week of life with an infant, so that I can figure out breastfeeding first 🍼 I’m not 100% crazy 😜

Did you cloth diaper your baby?
Any TIPS are welcome! 🙏 The YouTube resources I found helpful: &

✨ Update ✨You’ll be seeing more baby-related 📝 content here 🍼. But rather than jump into displaying a pregnancy that has gone well, I wanted to share our backstory.

About a year ago, Will and I lost our first baby. At 5 months pregnant it wasn’t a miscarriage, it was technically a stillbirth. It was a shock and type of grief we have never experienced before. And it all coincided with moving into a new home, in a new city. It was a blurry fall season for us. 💔

Now, a year has passed and we are getting ready to welcome our next baby into the world. It’s a strange thing to embrace happiness, while at the same time hold space for past grief. There is a cautious optimism that permeates everything, where each day forward feels like a little victory.

So while I’ll be writing more about New Minimalism with a baby, I’m also sending my strength and love to those who are on a rocky journey of fertility / pregnancy. ✨

And for everyone else, just remember — for every “Welcome Baby” post, it’s likely there has been some heartache behind the curtain.

Xx
