When Kai and Finn were little, people thought they were twins. They are only 11 months apart. One adopted from Vietnam and the other from China.

For three weeks every year, they ARE the same age. Each summer in Corsica, right before their birthdays, we used to take photos of them on the steps of the ancient town of Bonifacio.

It’s been a few years since we chose this exact door or the steps nearby. And this week, Kai breaks ahead and leaves his teenage years behind him. They are still as beautiful as ever. I only wish we could have recreated that adorable hug!

Now a tribute to our wonderful Elizabeth Peterson. She started as an intern while in graduate school and became a star assistant designer.

She did everything with a beautiful smile and the kindest demeanor. It was a joy to have her in the studio with us everyday and we had many awesome adventures together including a trip to San Miguel de Allende for inspiration and sourcing.

She moved away during Covid for her two babies: one the adorable furball Ted. Our first doggie mascot and resident doodle at the office. We still miss them! 🥰

Very special visit yesterday to the studio of wonderful fiber artist meghan shimek who is making an incredible wall sculpture for one of our OG clients 🥰. I started my career in the arts, so commissioning pieces like this and working directly with artists has been one of my favorite parts of interior design. What an amazing way to take a break from the stress of packing up our office. Can’t wait to see this installed!

Amy Anderson of Amy Anderson/Vibrant Vibe and Sara Reeble of sara reeble / Ode to Gravity were the most amazing design duo I had at Lotus Bleu. How lucky visitors to our Hayes Valley boutique were in the day to get the expertise from this standout and most original, stylish, sassy, and savvy pair! They made the colors even more vibrant, and those braids!

Of course, they’ve both continued on to have brilliant careers. Amy apprenticed with our very favorite wallpaper installer and artisan extraordinaire, Heidi Wright Heidi Wright Mead, C.P. for years, and now has her own business. With a spark of joy and the most meticulous eye, Amy has completed so many gorgeous client projects for us!

When we moved to Potrero Hill, Sara used her design degree for several years in our studio as a talented assistant and then went on to shine at Becky Carter Design in many award-winning projects and now at her own bi-coastal Bay Area and Brooklyn furniture and design firm.

Many wonderful women have been an essential part of my Lotus Bleu team over the years. During the next couple of weeks, I’d like to recognize and thank some of them.

In the early years of my boutique and design office in Hayes Valley, Allie Bruch of Studio Allie and Rachel Seldin of Seldin Design Studios were both important creative forces. Allie was not only instrumental in launching the Madeline Weinrib collection at the shop and being a merchandising wiz, but she also helped on many important projects, including our 2011 San Francisco Decorator Showcase room and our 2013 West Marin Ranch for which we won the coveted top residential project award in California from CA Home+Design .

Rachel expanded our in-house custom services offerings, making it possible for so many lucky boutique clients to reupholster special furniture pieces and bring a bit of the colorful joy for which we were known into their homes without needing to hire us for a full-home project. She’s stayed local, and it’s been awesome to watch her design firm blossom into its own award-winning one.

The first photo of the three of us here is from a special event we curated at the Baker | McGuire San Francisco Showroom showroom at the San Francisco Design Center. For a live audience, we demonstrated some of our best tricks for putting together a festive holiday party.
