Burdell “Birdie” Thomas 98, of Somonauk Il. went home with Jesus September 22, 2025. She was born on a farm near Big Rock, IL. She attended Sandwich High school. They farmed south of Somonauk, IL, where she and her husband along with her kids would work the farm. Rich tending to the pigs, Becky making their clothes, and Carolyn stuck in the kitchen. She would say "Idle hands are the devil's workshop,” as she went out to work the fields with Dad. "Granny" loved Jesus, gardening, and her birds. She was often found at Two Sisters in Sandwich, either in the garden or playing scrabble on the porch with Carolyn. Oh, all those clocks she made and pumpkin bars. "Wait till you get to be a hundred," was always her comeback. Well Mom you didn't make it, only 98.

She leaves behind her loving family, her three children, Rich (Fanda) Thomas, Becky Kinney, and Carolyn Kedzierski; seven grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronie Thomas, two sisters, Lorraine Cover and Shirley Covert, one grandson, James Lee Thomas at birth, one son-in law, John Kedzierski and one great grandson, Cody Mauer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 12:00 pm until 2:00 p.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Last nite our dear mother “Granny" went home with Jesus. Always gardening at shop and of course playing scrabble. Known for her pumpkin bars and of course all those clocks! She lived a beautiful full life and left many memories for us all. Rest well my dear Mom, see you in paradise ❤️
