I have vivid memories of the house I grew up in. The small room I shared with my sister, the kitchen where meals were served, and the backyard with fruit trees to climb on!

I hold this project dearly because of what it meant to us — and to our clients, who had just relocated from Arizona to Winter Park, FL.

Proportion, balance, texture, and a few favorite books — that’s all it needs.

Gilder Rose was a study in balance — we started with a room that felt empty and cold and ended with an elegant, comfortable and grounded space.

Notes:

Not aways we get to use a large side table like this one (its 30" wide!) But this room called for it.

The 10" x 14" rug set the boundaries

Not in my wildest dreams, I thought I'd be an interior designer. No, I did not grow up helping my mom redecorate the house or watching my artsy grandma play with fabrics and colors.

After I married and had my 3 boys, I saw how much my husband, who was already a GC, needed help with his projects.

I saw a need.

All of his clients were relying on his construction skills to tell them what to do with their homes. So, with a 2 year old on one hand and twins who had just turned 1on the other, I decided to go to design school.

We went through intense 3 years with me having to work on my school projects during naps and/ or after the babies went to sleep. But it was all worth it.

Today, I get to help sweet families turn their house into homes. I lend them my eyes and my creative way of seeing things. And I get to see sparkly eyes and beautiful smiles when, after all the bumps, when we finish a project.

Dreams do come true. ✨️ you might just need the help of a designer 😉

One day, scrolling through FB Marketplace, I found this antique set of soft pastels for sale — a 72-color set in a wooden case, barely used. Obviously, I had to grab it 😍
Now, it lives in my house, and I can’t wait to use it for sketches, concepts, and spontaneous bursts of creativity.
