Evans Pots Functional and decorative ceramic artwork

[email protected] In 2013, we joined the Ventura County Potter's Guild.

Bill and I took our first ceramics class at UCSB in 1966. Working with clay quickly became our passion and my main focus of study. We made pots up through the mid seventies, then two children and careers took over our lives for the next couple of decades. We always planned to take up pottery again and kept our trusty old wheel stored in our garage. When Bill retired from teaching elementary school

about 8 years ago we took a watercolor class together through our local Adult Education. We discovered a pottery studio two doors down and realized that's what we REALLY wanted to do. After a lapse of about 30 years, the old potter's wheel was dusted off and our desire to learn and create was stronger than ever. These past several years have been filled with classes at SBCC Adult Education, UCSB's Living Arts Program and work in our home studio. We are most interested in wheel-thrown functional pottery that enhances our daily life through use and pottery that decorates our living spaces. Having lived and vacationed at the beach all of our lives, the sea plays a large role in inspiration for both the design and decoration of our work. We love learning new techniques and growing as artists.

Did you know that a group of sea turtles is called a “bale” (used for land gatherings) or a “flotilla” (especially when swimming)?
A flotilla of sea turtle mugs, plus a pink (new color) sea urchin mug and a little frog treasure box, fresh out of the kiln today.
