Macrame & More - Designs, Patterns & Tutorials

Macrame & More - Designs, Patterns & Tutorials I create macramé through the lens of design, inspired by nature and the spaces we live in.

Along the way, I share patterns, tutorials, and behind-the-scenes insights to help others learn, create, and grow in their own macramé journey.

You would think the last thing I bought for the business would be cord, or rings…

Nope! I bought 6 grid panels and accessories so I could improve my booth set up for in-person shows.

Apparently, according to my husband, my excitement level over 6 new grid panels was a little concerning… until he saw the results. 😆

What practical purchase have you been oddly excited about lately?

I know that makes me happy! 😄 What about you?

🌿Throwback Thursday

Like most people learning something new, I started with simple projects while figuring out the different knots, techniques, and patterns.

I remember feeling so proud of the piece in this photo. It was my first original design.

Today, 7 years later, it feels a little like coming full circle with my macramé journey. I learned so much by watching and learning from others, and now I have the opportunity to give back in the same way.

What’s something you’ve learned over the years that you could now teach someone else?

Back in the home studio...unpacking and refocusing for the work ahead.

Also an early announcement for something special happening next week.

Before I can get to work today, I need to unpack from a recent trip.

I need a clean, tidy space in order to focus on my macrame work and tasks at hand for the day.

How about you? Do you need a tidy place to work or do you thrive amongst the clutter?

🌿 The Plant Hanger That Started It All

Clara was the very first plant hanger I made when I started my macramé journey.

Watching my designs grow into patterns and tutorials has been such a special part of this journey, and I’m excited about 2026 and the paths unfolding in my macrame journey.

What’s one project you’ve created that still holds a special place in your heart?

Not many of you may know this about me…

From 2009–2024, one of my side gigs involved theater. During that time I participated in 40+ productions where I designed sets, built sets, or painted scenery.

In every production I did at least 2 of those jobs, and for over half of them I did all 3.

This is one example of some of my faux finishing work. I turned plain luan sheets into an old brick wall for a stage set.

Looking back, it probably explains why texture, color, and detail play such a huge role in my macramé work today. Once you’ve spent years turning one material into something completely different, your brain starts seeing creative possibilities everywhere.

What’s something you’ve done that might surprise people?

During a recent in-person show this precious Petra pod plant hanger sold.

The young lady who bought it absolutely loved the bright bubblegum pink color. 🩷

I loved making this plant hanger. It was challenging and fun at the same time.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love this plant hanger?
