Hi everyone!! Im seeing lots of new faces, so I thought it was time I introduced myself!
My name is Ellen, and I live in Sarasota with my partner of 7 years, Kian, and our two kitties, Aurora and Sophie. I grew up here and have loved Florida’s nature and flowers for as long as I can remember.
Gardening has always been a part of my family, between growing marigolds at my childhood home (slide 6) and flower & veggie gardens up in Nova Scotia, where we would visit my Grandpa and the rest of my mom’s family (slide7&8). My Nana even had her own gardening business in NS! (Slide 9&10) She’s no longer with us, but I feel her almost every day with me in the garden and in the flowers, and I know she’s looking down proudly.
When I started working at a local florist shop, my love of flowers grew, and I began dreaming of growing a cut flower garden of my own.
I started attending cut-flower growing workshops at local flower farms to expand my knowledge and gain inspiration. The next thing I knew, I was buying 10 cubic yards of compost, soil amendments, plugs, and seeds galore!
I love everything I’ve learned, and it’s so fulfilling to watch the seeds grow into flowers. It’s also really rewarding to see something so beautiful come to life, knowing I’m helping to create a safe, pesticide and chemical free space for the pollinators and other animals to enjoy.
I love being able to connect with other growers and get to collaborate with them to bring local beauty to our community!
This year I completely fell in love with working on weddings. I love every part! From getting the inquiry to the first consultation, creating proposals and quotes… then, of course, designing, and the big day!! I hope this coming year brings more beauty and that I get to work with more brides and florists. I’m so excited to continue sharing my journey with you all!!
Thank you SO MUCH for following along, and I can’t wait for what’s to come and to show you what I’ve been working on!!!
Hugs, Ellen
