This fundraiser honors those missing from our holiday tables while turning grief, absence, and hardship into something meaningful for the community. For 2025, the Open Chair is raising funds for Corey Rhodes — a young man who, while facing a rare and aggressive liver cancer, chose to create a foundation that gives back to others battling cancer.
Through the Rhodes Cancer Foundation, Corey provides meals for patients following treatment, supports local cancer patients and families, and contributes to cancer research. One of the most impactful efforts includes arranging food trucks outside treatment centers so patients can go home with a warm meal on days when cooking feels impossible.
The Open Chair Fundraiser aligns perfectly with the spirit of You Give – We Give by transforming compassion into action and community support into real-world help. This nomination reflects not just generosity, but resilience, empathy, and the power of giving during the most difficult moments of life.
