This company was founded on mission and passion to help shelter dogs in my home state of Arizona. I'm Jenni, owner and founder of Light + Bark, and I am also a volunteer for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and other animal welfare organizations in my community. When not volunteering hands-on, I wanted to find another creative way to fundraise and give back. This gave birth to making and sell

ing candles for fundraising as DOG Candle Co in 2017, which later evolved into Light + Bark Candle Co in late 2020. At Light + Bark, we are completely woman owned and operated, and blend and pour our soy candles by hand right here in Scottsdale, AZ. We use 100% soy wax, toxin-free fragrances and cotton wicks - nothing else! Making the most uniquely scented, safest burning candles around is our purpose. Enjoy blending and pouring your own candles at our shop located in historic Old Town Scottsdale and see what the candle making joy is all about! As for our mission, every time you purchase one of our hand-poured candles, you are literally helping to light the way for shelter + rescue dogs in need! A percentage of profits from every sale is donated to our local municipal shelter and local dog rescues to help support them in keeping pups healthy + happy until they find their forever homes 🐶. We're getting so excited to hang with our favorite dog moms this Saturday, and wanted to bestow upon you a gift: getting to be the first to try our new-and-developing perfume bar!

We've hosted this for some of our corporate clients already and now we're working on fine tuning it so we can launch it at the shop. Would you come out and make one, and tell us what you think?! 😍

Our mini perfume bar on Saturday will be just $20, and you'll get to custom blend a skin-safe fragrance with organic coconut oil to make a long-lasting roller to tuck in your purse and take everywhere with you. Best part? No drying time like with our custom candles 🤗.

Also!!! It's looking like it's going to be warm again on Saturday, just like last year (why you gotta be like that, May?! 🥵) so come solo and leave your fur babes at home 🏡🐶. I know.... On all we want to do is be with them, but come treat yourself and let them stay cool and healthy.

🍪 Bake sale - Snag some homemade treats for yourself and your pup, or pick up goodies to bring to your Mother's Day brunch! We need bakers or businesses to donate baked goods too; sign up at the link on our profile!

100% of proceeds benefit our event partner and bestie and her spay/neuter program, The Fix ✂️

💐 Bloom bar - For $10 pick a unique mini vase and fill it with a selection of cute greens and blooms

✨ Perfume making - For $20 come try our not-yet-launched perfume roller bar! We'll have skin safe scents you can mix and blend with organic coconut oil into a cute roller bottle

🥂 Mom-osa bar - You know we always have complimentary refreshments flowing

✍️ Flash tattoos - Our talented neighbors at are getting in on the fun with Dog Mom themed flash tattoos and donating a portion of each back to too!

For all of the 500 daily going-to-work goodbye kisses, home cooked meals, vet visits, medical routines, training, late nights dealing with fireworks, hairs you've brushed and bodily fluids you've cleaned up... We see you, and we are right there with you 💘.

I've been struggling to muster the motivation to post and promote Mother's Day at the shop. It's a winning combination of grief plus ADHD plus who knows, I'm 40 now so perimenopause could come for me any day 😅.

I *know* the things I have to do. I even *want* to do the things. I just can't seem to *doooo* tha things! My neurospicy, griefy friends, I know you know.

Anywho, Mother's Day weekend is typically one of our busiest at the shop and I wanted to remind you that it's coming up, next weekend: May 9th + 10th!!! 🌷

I'm really excited that we're bringing back Dog Mom's Day on Saturday with a super cute pop up for our fellow dog mamas - including make your own perfume roller, a bloom bar, flash tattoos by our friends nextdoor at , and a delicious bake sale!! All will be in partnership with and benefitting spay neuter program! 🤎🐾

Sunday is Mother's Day and as always, we'll have a complimentary mom-osa bar while you get crafty blending candles 🥂🕯️

Reservations are open all weekend so come spend quality time with us! It would mean so much to me to fill our space with you guys and the mother figures you love, ARE, or both 💘. Seriously, I'm really missing my babies so come give me a hug please 🤗

We loooove us a theme party, so we are hosting the *most adorable* Lady & the Tramp style pop up at the studio next weekend! If you're looking for a unique and super cute date idea, book tickets to join us at the link in our bio!

I can't think of anything better than hosting an adoption pop up during Valentine's weekend, so that you might meet your soulmutt like I met Chance and Pepper 💕.

In their honor and for so many dogs who paved the way, come meet the love of your life at Light + Bark!

Light + Bark will remain open on Friday, January 30th and also, we support the ICE out strike and the many ways people and organizations across the country are tackling it ✊

I waffled so hard about this that my brain hurts and I'm tired like all of you... But what I came down to is that we as a small business have created a safe, welcoming corner of our community and I want to still be that tomorrow. We *need* places like that still, and we need connection with each other more than ever.

You can come here to talk about how we are fighting for our humanity, to get a hug, to get crafty and get out of your head for a little bit, or to take your dog for a walk. If you choose to pour candles or buy goods, we are here for that too but let's only use our cash 💸.

We support icing out the big corporations that are contributing to the horrors we stand against, and for pouring our dollars into our neighbors and community instead. So that's what we're going to be doing.

Keeping the lights on at our small business that donates to local animal rescues and employs incredible local women *is* part of our long-term resistance. 👯‍♀️

Bummer timing, but we will also be closed on Saturday the 31st due to all-day street closures around the shop for the Parada del Sol... HOWEVER, we are taking reservations to pour candles at our Studio just down the street, so we would love it if you'd come play with candles with us over there! Just sign up on our website pretty please!🕯️

I know none of this is business as usual and it shouldn't be, so I hope that tomorrow we can all make an impact by not spending OR only spending small... and that we can continue on like this past Friday.

An update on where I've been and where we still are ❤️‍🩹.

There hasn't been a great time to share this with how the world has been hurting, but individual grief is collective grief and vice versa... and this needs to be said now so we can keep going. I need (and want) to talk about them.

For all who have been so patient, loving, gracious and supportive of me and L+B through this time, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
