This game room had a lot of fun design moments; a built-in bar, a custom pool table, and a chandelier moment I’m still thinking about. But the detail I keep coming back to?

That neon sign.

The lyrics are from one of their son’s favorite songs, which made the idea feel perfectly theirs. So instead of filling that wall with something expected, we had it made.

Because sometimes the best part of a room is the one thing nobody else would have chosen.

That’s usually what I’m chasing, not just a ā€œdesignedā€ room, but one that lets my clients’ personalities shine through. The best part is helping clients figure out what that "lemon twist" might be:)

What’s something in your home that feels uniquely yours?

I’d love to hear about it.

Life lately. šŸ‹āž”ļø

A little travel, a lot of design. Furnishings arriving, combinations coming together, wallpaper + paint samples everywhere, project progress, exterior paint decisions and a little styling in between.

Also making the cut: college football, coffee by the sea and a new collagen-coffee situation I’m currently into.

Basically, my camera roll in no particular order. :)

Next up: a design conference, project photos and a few contractor + client meetings.

September, you’ve been busy.

A little pattern goes a long way. šŸ¤

This fun floor tile brought just enough personality to this new-build hall bath, without needing to be custom or crazy expensive.

Going with the flow is much easier when someone has the map.

Design projects have a lot of moving parts:
- decisions
- timelines
-trades
-deliveries…
And unexpected turns to make just a few.

The goal isn’t to eliminate every surprise. It’s to have a clear direction and someone who knows how to navigate what comes next. šŸ‹

That’s a big part of what working with a designer is really about.

As John Steinbeck famously wrote…

ā€œPositano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.ā€

Beyond grateful for a much needed time away with family this summer.

I strongly suggest a scheduled ā€œout of officeā€ in your calendar! The white space is exactly what my body and mind needed!

We spent the first half of the trip with my parents, brother, niece and our four daughters and two son-in-laws on a cruise and visited Italy, France and Spain and then finished off with half the family on The Amalfi Coast.

I’m in my lemon era more than ever now! šŸ‹šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹šŸ‹ The creative inspiration in colors, designs, and overall ambiance was incredible.

I had the opportunity to travel to St. Louis as a guest of the appliance company, True Caliber, and what I expected to be just a simple factory tour turned into a whole new appreciation for what goes into truly exceptional products.

True offers appliances with custom colors, finishes, hardware options, columns, under-counter refrigeration, w**e storage, beverage centers, and more.

We spent the day learning how their pieces are made, and I was blown away to discover that they manufacture not only the finished product, but also the components that go into it. The level of precision and pride behind every detail was impressive.

As a designer, experiences like this matter. They help me better understand the products I recommend and why some brands stand apart from the rest. It’s one thing to see a beautiful appliance in a showroom. It’s another to see the people, process, and quality behind it.

The trip was also sprinkled with some fun extras too! We explored St. Louis, enjoyed incredible live music and comedy, caught a Cardinals game, and yes… this claustrophobic girl somehow made it to the top of the Arch without causing an emergency evacuation. I am still not sure how I fit into that capsule and made it to the top, but the photos prove it all:)

Grateful for the opportunity, the education, and the amazing people that I got to hang out with. Thank you and .caliber

Sometimes a remodel isn’t just about replacing finishes.

Before I ever start pulling selections like these, I’m listening for something else first.

What feels cramped?
What no longer flows?
What quietly frustrates you every day?
Or, what excites you about changes in your space?

Sometimes it’s about creating breathing room, improving flow, or fixing the parts of a space that quietly frustrate you every day.

Before I think about tile or paint colors, I’m listening for that first.
That fresh twist? It starts long before selections.

WHAT DOES YOUR HOME SAY ABOUT YOU?

A lot of homes look put together.
Far fewer feel personal.

The spaces that stay with us usually have a little twist somewhere — something unexpected, collected, or quietly telling your story.

Because let’s be honest... we all have another side to us.
The polished side.
And the side that buys the weird vintage piece, laughs a little too loud, or wants something that feels a touch less expected.

That fresh twist? That’s where personality lives.

And if you know me by now, you know I design with that ā€œfresh twist on interior designā€ mentality… because life is far too short for rooms with no personality.

Bonus rooms can easily become the land of leftover furniture and forgotten ideas.
šŸ‹
But we had other plans for this one:)
šŸ‹
A small closet became a dry bar, a stunning light fixture that absolutely understood the assignment, and a wall full of strategically placed TVs so no one is missing a gamešŸ˜‰

I also can’t even begin to explain the coolness factor of the ombre wallpaper on the window wall (mainly because I didn’t get a good photo, but use your imagination and work with me there:))))), it’s STUNNING and pulls the whole room together:)

It’s the little details that quietly tell the story… right down to a custom neon sign inspired by their favorite song.

Rooms people remember most usually have a little twist. And if you know me by now, you know I’ll always vote for personality over predictable.

A kitchen or bathroom remodel is not a fast chain of tile samples and faucet decisions.

Before design begins, we first define the roadmap:

šŸ‹ what’s changing
šŸ‹ what’s no longer working
šŸ‹ what needs to function better
šŸ‹ and how the space should support your everyday life

That requires listening, problem solving, planning, and a clearly defined scope before a single finish is selected.

Only then can we begin with clarity and direction✨ That kind of design takes time… and it should:)
