I entered the Ocean Geographic photography competition a few months ago with 12 images. They opened up a new category for mobile phone photography, so I thought, why not? I got an email back that two of the twelve photos have been considered finalists! I don't know if they won or placed, but tonight is the broadcast of the winners. I thought I would share the link if you were interested in watching. They were both taken at Coco View Resort, Roatan, Honduras, last summer. You are looking at a Cryptic Teardrop Crab (about the size of a fingernail) and a Warty Jelly (about 4"long). What blows me away is that it says that there were over 8500 photos submitted! So honored.

I just did the live zoom presentation that will be available for viewing on June 8th. I got honorable mention. But there will be a fan vote.... keep you posted.

I usually like to wait until a project is fully complete before sharing photos, but there’s been so much creativity and craftsmanship happening at Quiriego that I had to share a little behind-the-scenes look.

Right now, we’re building custom tables and seating, fabricating laser-cut wall panels, hand-stenciling walls, and creating custom faux greenery installations. So many details are being made by hand, and that’s the part I love most.

Construction is wrapping up, staff training is underway, and the restaurant is expected to open within the next month. More to come soon.
