Our roots run deep in Scranton and they extend in every direction; many of us have friends, family members, and close personal ties to every corner of this country, including Los Angeles.

We are heartbroken to see this level of loss and the only way that we can think to respond (however humbly) is together, as a collective.

Please donate to our community fundraiser for Baby2Baby, an organization working to help provide infants and families in L.A. with supplies that all babies need. We believe that the call to respond to this disaster is one that we should all answer in our own way, and it’s what we would hope others would do if the roles were reversed. What makes this fundraiser special is that community donations will be MATCHED by partners tagged here. Through their kindness and generosity, these outstanding local businesses are going to amplify your impact by 100%, immediately.

We recognize that this isn’t our usual gig — we are a coffee shop and an interior design service — but what unites us (and our network of likeminded local businesses) is compassion. We believe in serving others. When we see a need, we get to work. We are “the helpers”.

Please visit Zummo's Cafe to leave a donation in the form of cash or check. With the help of our incredible sponsors, we will double whatever money is donated now through January 31. Whatever it may look like for you, we urge you to make an intentional contribution.

If you simply pass the word along about our efforts, or you say a silent prayer, or you do absolutely anything to send positive energy to our friends in L.A., we thank you. Small acts of love don’t get lost in the shuffle; they actually add up very, very quickly.

To everyone in , we love you so much and help is on the way.

A HUGE thank you to our community partners:

, we’re home. 🤌

When I first tried a freshly wood-fired pizza from Pizza Althea, every standard I previously held for “what pizza should be” — based on a summer I spent in the Mediterranean — was simply exceeded. I am here to tell you that these guys have taken that tradition and turned it into pure art. Their carefully considered twists on a food we all know and love is one of those beautiful things in life that just has to be experienced to be understood.

Pizza Althea was still a mobile/pop-up style service when I had that first bite, but everything was spot on. Months later, when Rory and Josh asked if I wanted to join forces and sell my pieces out of their new restaurant in Pittston, PA, the answer was YES.

But here’s the one big detail that really makes this special for me, personally: just a few weeks before friends told me to go to a Pizza Althea pop-up, I’d very suddenly had to say goodbye to the greatest dog of my life, someone I still consider one of my soulmates, and her name just so happened to be Althea. She was my everything girl — we saw it all, and we even shared the same birthday. She taught me so much about patience, responsibility, loyalty, grace, selflessness, and true unconditional love, and for that reason I always say that she taught me to be a mother. In the wake of that loss, there were still all these inexplicable little glimmers of light that kept reminding my family and me what a special girl she had been. Somehow, my Allie continues to shine through like the little rainbow that she was. The name “Althea” means “healing”.

I think that pretty much sums up the story of my dog, and the story of Òra’s newest home.

I cannot wait for you to see this new restaurant, soak in the incredible job they have done remodeling the historic Landmark building in downtown Pittston, and for you to experience the pure bliss that is Pizza Althea. Grab some food to feed your soul, shop Òra pieces in person, and tell all your friends! 🫶✨

Together with our amazing community at the Zummo's Cafe Autumn Festival, we were able to achieve a fantastic kickstart to our donation drive for Hurricane Helene relief, but we’re just beginning — and there’s no time to waste. From now through October 12, PLEASE consider making a monetary contribution via our Amazon Wishlist (or Venmo!) OR drop off supplies at Zummo’s.

Everything we are able to collect will be sent directly to mothers and babies in North Carolina. 🤰 🍼 🩺

Òra Home Company and Rooted In Nurture Postpartum Doula are partnering to gather items from Zummo’s and then hand off these crucial supplies to distributors at one of three local shipping points. So far on the list of local shipping points we have Plummer’s Towing, Eva’s Farm, and Fleetville Fire Department. Please let us know of any other supply drop-off points, especially the ones that are going longterm. There’s not a second to waste — please swipe through the slides on this post and consider if you are able to help!

The link to the Amazon wish list for mothers and babies that we created is right here:

‼️ PLEASE NOTE ‼️ At this time, we unfortunately are unable to accept powder infant formula or any clothing items. Formula must come in premade (bottled) form, as many mothers do not have access to clean water.

Òra will ALSO be raffling off two special items: a pristine 1940s midi-length dress (with pockets!) and one vintage mirror with an ornate, antique gold frame. Raffle tickets are $5 each and 100% of proceeds from the raffle will go directly to Hurricane Relief. If you’re interested in the raffle, please send a DM to on Instagram so we can be sure that we can contact you if you are a winner. Raffle winners will be announced October 12.

Here’s the thing: In times like these, we are all we’ve got. Scranton, let’s dig deep and make a huge difference for mothers and babies in urgent need. THANK YOU so much in advance!
