I stand on the beach, waves crashing wildly against the shore, as a storm rages overhead. Thunder echoes through the air, mingling with the sound of rain pelting down. In that moment, the storm is like a catharsis. It's as if the whirlwind mirrors the inner turmoil and pent-up emotions within. With each crack of lightning, I feel the opportunity to let go of burdens and wash away the weight of the past. The storm becomes a cleansing force, leaving me refreshed, renewed, and ready to embrace the calm that follows.

Ah, the late-night solitude when you find yourself the last one awake. It's a magical realm where time seems to slow down, and the world takes on a hushed stillness. The silence wraps around you like a comforting blanket, and you're left alone with your thoughts and the gentle hum of the night. There's a certain serenity in being the sole witness to the nocturnal symphony, where whispers of the creaky floor and distant rustlings create a mystical ambiance. Ideas and dreams dance in the shadows. You become a silent observer, but just another rumbling in the night.

Time heals all wounds. But not this one. Not Yet.

Some wounds run deeper than we can fathom. There's a particular ache that lingers, defying the conventional wisdom of healing. It's a wound that has carved its mark upon our very soul, refusing to fade with the passage of time. Yet, within this lingering pain lies a testament to our resilience and strength. It's a reminder that healing is not linear, that some wounds demand more patience, understanding, and self-compassion. So, we carry on, knowing that healing may not come easily, but we remain steadfast in our pursuit of wholeness. For even in the face of unhealed wounds, hope flickers, reminding us that healing, though not yet, is still within our reach.

I quit.

Smoking, that is.

It took a really long time, and more than a few attempts. I had become pretty convinced that I would just not ever actually quit unless I was to, say, get pregnant or something.

And then I got pregnant with my son. I quit smoking. it was awesome... until he was born with severe health issues, I stopped being able to breastfeed, and I was unable to cope with the stress. Boom. Started smoking again.

Finally, after a lot of help from a lot of people and resources, I pulled it together and white-knuckled it through a brutal cold turkey experience. I swear, the only way I was able to make it through quitting cold turkey while single-parenting a three-year old was by keeping my hands very busy... with crochet.

The monolith: a symbol of stoic strength and timeless mystery.

It reminds us of the finite nature of our existence within the grand tapestry of the universe.

It reminds us of our own insignificance and yet, paradoxically, with our limitless potential for exploration and discovery. that there is much we have yet to comprehend, and it invites us to embrace the unknown with a sense of curiosity and awe.

It reminds us of the power of silence and that profound wisdom can often be found in the absence of words.

So, let us stand in the presence of the monolith, humbled by its grandeur and inspired by its timeless presence.
