m•a•y

now that summer is within reach, the colors around us are becoming deeper, less pastel. comforting shades of blue, crisp off-whites, rich earthy browns, vibrant pops of yellow, and warm terracottas.

proof that exterior trim doesn’t have to be white 💓

if you’re craving a softer, or more dramatic look for your home, we always recommend exploring unexpected or moodier colors for the trim! 😋

sometimes white can feel really stark, especially when paired with a dark siding color 🔳

it’s common to see this contrast on traditional craftsman homes that are common here in seattle, but as time goes on, we’re noticing a shift in just how much contrast our clients want their homes to have 🏡

lighter shades of tan, beige, and gray are a neutral way to achieve the softer look 🩶

darker neutrals, like charcoals and chocolate browns, are great for added drama and depth 🤎

and greens, teals, or any other color that speaks to you, are a fun and creative way to add in color without overwhelming the entire home 💚

would you paint your trim a color other than white? 🤓

what does calm actually look like? ☁️

“calm” is the most common response we get when we ask a client how they want their bedroom to feel. for such a universally used word, it means something different to every person we ask 🤯

like anything, the concept of “calm” is subjective. to some, calm equates to moody and cozy 🤎 for others, calm is airy and light 💛 and sometimes it’s something else entirely 🩷

that’s the beautiful thing about this job - color is deeply personal and reflective so no two projects are the same! 🏡

what does calm look like to you? tell us in the comments below! 🤓💖

we are big believers that the little details, the mini moments, are what truly makes a project feel completed and well-done ✨

the outline of lap siding against a contrasting door trim. the intentional disguise of dated corner boards or nothing-special downspouts. the flow from the soffits and frieze boards to the rest of the home.

no detail is too small for us 💖

what should you do when your bathroom feels off but you don’t have the budget for a remodel? 🧐

for this client, the flooring and countertops felt like they were dragging down the energy in their primary bathroom. the previously yellow-beige walls made the entire space feel off balance and overwhelmingly bland in conjunction with everything else 😵‍💫 swipe to the end for a jump-scare!

our solution? pull the soft, subtle blue-grey veining from the countertops out onto the wainscoting! 💪🏻

by selecting a color within an existing color palette (countertops gave us plenty to choose from 😂), and opting for something on the cooler side, the space feels more balanced, tailored and intentional! 💓

a small change with big impacts ➡️
🌟 contrast between the walls, countertops, and flooring
🌟 warm-and-cool-toned harmony
🌟 cohesiveness and intentionality
