Yesterday I said goodbye and closed my little shop. What I thought was a dream come true quickly turned into a realization that owning a boutique in Sisters, OR isn’t at all what I thought it would be! Though people loved my shop and I can’t even count the number of compliments I received, it was more of a source of entertainment and a place to browse/kill time for tourists and locals. Shopping and spending was not the objective for the majority. So with very high overhead, high living expenses, a veryyy long winter season and more browsers than there were people spending, I felt it was not wise to continue. Thankfully, my landlord was very understanding and allowed me to terminate my lease. 🙏🏼Though it was short-lived, it was a wonderful experience. I met people and made friends that will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️ I want to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you that stopped by to say hello, shopped and supported, brought me coffee and gave me words of encouragement…there were so many of you. ❤️ Thank you to my family for being so supportive and helpful…how could I have done it all without you???? I can’t thank you enough for everything!! ❤️ Not only did I post this to say THANK YOU, but I also wanted to encourage everyone to support and shop small businesses as many are struggling and barely holding on. 🥹 I think a big part of it all is that people’s shopping habits are changing with the ease of online shopping and causing a negative impact for small businesses. So please keep in mind if you are out and about and want to browse through shops to kill time or for something to do, showing support with even a small purchase is very helpful and very much appreciated. It helps maintain a businesses viability and keeps hope alive for it’s community members that rely on a successful local economy.
Now that the business is closed and my inventory is all gone, I’m on to the next thing…which is another coffee shop in Texas. 😄 I also learned through all of this that there is more profit in coffee shops than a gift and clothing boutique. 😄
