Just realized the dollar bill is upside down 🙃

Since the beginning of Stay Cozy, it’s been important to me to give back through my business.

When I first started loom knitting hats, I would donate one preemie size hat the hospital for every hat I sold. Then for a while I donated 10% of all sales. Over the years as my business has changed so has the way it gives back.

Now $1 from every skein of tube yarn sold is donated to a nonprofit in my area. I’ve allowed myself the flexibility to give to different organizations, depending on current needs or current interests, but the goal has stayed the same:

Would you use a garden mat?!

I love mine so much. Beautiful AND functional! If you want your own, here’s what to do 👇🏼

1. Order 2 skeins Stay Cozy cotton tube yarn

2. Chain 12, then hand knit rows until you run out of yarn! (Add the loop handle during the binding off row in between the 5th and 6th stitches)

3. Use your new, cushiony mat the next time you garden to avoid sore knees 🙌🏼

Seriously impressed with Candy-Yarn 👏🏼

This is the first DIY kit of theirs I’ve tried and also the first looped yarn project I’ve ever done. It was a bit of an adjustment from my typical jumbo yarn, but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun!

I think looped yarn is helpful to keep consistent spacing and sizing, and the way the kit was packaged made it easier to travel with.

A bit intense 😅 but it got the job done! 👏🏼

I’m finishing up the baby blanket DIY kit I got from and although they recommend tying the yarn and sewing on a new skein, lighters are just so quick and satisfying with chenille yarn!

I might go back and secure the connections with the thread provided since this yarn is quite a bit smaller than my jumbo chenille yarn 👌🏼 I can’t wait to show you the finished blanket!

To those who are curious…

I had a fellow creator reach out this weekend with questions about tube yarn. They create beautiful items with chenille yarn and had been wanting to try tube yarn. Their questions prompted me to make these slides because you too may be curious!

If you’ve been around my page long enough you might already know that tube yarn was my first love when it comes to hand knitting. As with any craft, materials and supplies depend on the final look and purpose we are aiming for. Over the years my curiosity has led me to experiment more with chenille yarn, but lately I’ve been feel the pull back to tube yarn.

Creativity doesn’t need to be all or nothing. I can continue creating with lots of fibers, even while having my favorites, and if you’re feeling stuck or curious of other fibers, maybe this is the prompt you need to take a step in a new direction.

As always, all crafts, styles and yarn preferences are welcome here 🩷

How do we get “frequent flier miles” but for trips to ?! 😂

Some days it’s 2 boxes, some days it’s 7, and some days it’s 0. Small business life is anything but consistent, but that’s okay with me. It means that when I am packing and shipping orders, I feel super grateful.

Do I sometimes wish FedEx, UPS and USPS were all in one place and right next door to my kids’ school? Of course 😂 but a little drive is worth it for the joy of shipping quality yarn all over the country 🩷
