The 2025 Recology Reuse Bazaar was a success! ♻️
Rather than a traditional dump day where residents bring items to get rid of and ultimately end up in the landfill, Recology Sonoma Marin wanted to do something different.
On September 27, we invited residents to drop off items in the first half of the event, and then "shop" for free during the second half. Instead of heading to the landfill, approximately 24,000 lbs of goods found new homes or were donated to local secondhand organizations including Flip Side Thrift, Make It Home Bay Area, GreenLynx, and Phoenix Books. Additionally, around 9,400 lbs of materials, like mattresses, tires, metal, cardboard, and e-waste, were recycled.
We're proud to share that nearly 80% of all materials collected during this event were either reused or recycled. Thank you to the Reuse Alliance, Conservation Corps North Bay, City of Santa Rosa, California, and the Sonoma County Fair & Event Center for helping make this event a reality.
