CeCe's Coastal Cottage Follow for coastal home decor inspo! Hi, welcome! I’m Celeste Monroe. I am the founder of Coastal Cottage by Celeste.

I offer design inspiration and ideas for people looking to renovate or decorate their own coastal cottage homes on a budget. After solo-renovating my 1920s beach cottage in Southport, NC, I found my passion in interior decorating and now help others to create budget-friendly, coastal-inspired spaces. For the past 15 years, I have dedicated my time to supporting professional interior designers and solo renovators to create coastal spaces with an old cottage charm feel. Let’s transform your home into a coastal oasis!

I used to dread working from home. My desk felt like an afterthought crammed into a corner nobody wanted. So I redid it with the same coastal cottage style I use everywhere else in my house, and it completely changed how I feel about being in there.
A few things that made the biggest impact:
A whitewashed driftwood finish on my desk (way easier DIY than it looks)
Layered lighting instead of one harsh overhead light
A small nook setup for anyone without a full room to dedicate (this one's for the renters and apartment folks)
A reading corner for the days I need five minutes away from the screen
A gallery wall behind the desk so video calls actually have a nice backdrop
Which one of these would make the biggest difference in your space? I'm guessing it's either the lighting or the small nook idea for a lot of you.
I put all 10 ideas, plus the exact DIY steps for that desk finish, in this post: https://www.coastalcottagebyceleste.com/bloginspiration/charming-workspace-cozy-cottage-office-retreats

Tiny entryway, big personality! 💙 This little nook with ocean views would be my favorite spot to drop my bag after the farmers market. The textured pendant light casts the prettiest shadows at sunset. Small spaces - yay or nay? 🌊
