✂️ Mid-Season Maintenance Matters

By early July, commercial landscapes have been through wind, sun, weeds—and maybe a little neglect. This week is a great time to:
• Deadhead perennials to promote reblooming
• Edge beds for a cleaner look
• Refresh mulch to retain moisture
• Check irrigation systems for clogs or overwatering

A little midsummer maintenance helps your landscape stay attractive and efficient through the hottest stretch of the season.

Need support with upkeep? Haller’s is just a call away.

🌾 Planting for Heat: Resilient Choices That Keep Landscapes Looking Sharp

High temps don’t have to mean dull, wilted beds. If you’re replanting or filling in this month, choose heat-smart plants like:
• Lantana
• Yarrow
• Salvia
• Coneflower
• Daylilies
• Ornamental grasses like muhly or switchgrass

These tough choices thrive in commercial settings, add seasonal color, and require less watering and maintenance. That’s smart landscaping in action.

Need help updating a few tired spots? We’re here to make your summer work harder for you.

🌱 Let’s Talk Lawn

Don’t water every day. Water smart.
During Tennessee’s hottest weeks, it’s tempting to water daily—but that can do more harm than good. Lawns thrive when watered deeply and infrequently, encouraging roots to grow down instead of staying shallow.

Aim for one or two deep waterings a week, ideally in the early morning to reduce evaporation and disease risk. Your lawn will be greener, stronger, and more resilient in the long run.

• Are pollinators finding a home in your space?
• Is your lawn performing as it should?

☀️ End-of-June Post: “Mid-Summer Check-In”

June has just wrapped up, and summer is in full swing. How’s your landscape holding up? Now’s a great time for a mid-season refresh — new mulch, a few hardy summer bloomers, or even just a quick tune-up can make a big difference.

Daylilies, salvia, coneflowers (like these pictured), and black-eyed Susans are all going strong. And it’s not too late to add color and polish to your beds and borders.

Let’s make sure your commercial property stays as sharp in July as it did in spring.

🌱 Let’s Talk Lawn

There are lots of things that can distract us from noticing our commercial lawns’ signs of drought stress.
Even well-irrigated lawns can struggle during long stretches of Middle Tennessee heat. Look for early signs of drought stress: footprints that linger in the grass, a bluish-gray tint, or grass blades that fold or curl.

Spotting these signals early helps you avoid long-term damage. Deep, infrequent watering (about 1 inch per week, including rainfall) builds healthier roots and saves water over time.

Healthy lawns know how to talk — you just have to know how to listen.

🦋 Pollinator Week Is Coming — Is Your Landscape Ready?

Today is Father’s Day, but Pollinator Week follows on its heels, June 16–21, according to the Pollinator Partnerships organization. In fact, now’s the perfect time to get your commercial landscape pollinator-friendly. Even a few well-placed plants can support butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.

Add pops of color and purpose with native choices like milkweed, purple coneflower, and black-eyed Susans. Pollinators bring life to your landscape—and value to your brand.

Let’s create spaces that buzz with beauty and meaning.

🌱 Let’s Talk Lawn (Week 2 Tip)

Clover’s not the enemy—it’s a helper.
That patch of clover your commercial lawn is growing? It’s actually doing your soil a favor. Clover fixes nitrogen naturally, reducing your need for fertilizer. It also stays green through summer without growing too tall, attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies, and feeds wildlife like the rabbit pictured here.

A healthy lawn isn’t always just grass—it’s balance.

🌼 More Than a Spring Fling: Daylilies for Summer Color

Don’t let the heat drain the life from your landscape. Summer color can shine just as brightly as spring blooms—especially with reliable performers like daylilies.

These bold orange beauties are heat-tolerant, low maintenance, and perfect for commercial beds that need lasting impact. Pair with coreopsis or black-eyed Susans for a vibrant, eye-catching display.

Need help picking the right mix? We’re here to help your landscape bloom all season long.

🌱 Let’s Talk Lawn (Week 1 Tip)

Raise your mower blade this summer! Cutting grass too short stresses your lawn and leaves it vulnerable to heat and drought. Keeping it at 2.5 to 3.5 inches shades the soil, retains moisture, and crowds out weeds naturally.

For a healthier, more resilient lawn, start with the right mowing height—and look out for more tips all summer from Haller’s!
