I love sweaters with yarn over raglan increases. They make these beautiful diagonal lines of eyelets.

My first pattern, the Corona Muralis, is well underway! I got the schematic done today so I can give you all a preview. This is an off-the-shoulder, raglan sweater worked seamlessly from the top down. I particularly love the detail of the herringbone stitch in the neckline and cuffs.

I also got far enough along to have a yarn estimate, so yarn is ordered! I'm using Knit Picks Galileo (50% Merino Wool, 50% Viscose from Bamboo). I've been knitting swatches with it and I'm really impressed with how it works up.

I basically freehanded this herringbone lace pattern before charting it. This swatch represents the bottom hem of the Corona Muralis. The lace echos the herringbone stitch at the front top and on the cuffs, and the eyelets repeat the simple yarn over increase pattern along the raglan seams. I’m really excited about this design!

I settled on a name for my current design-in-progress: the Corona Muralis. The ribbing that makes up the top of the yoke of the off-the-shoulder design reminds me of a crown of battlements.
