Who decides what’s “affordable” or too “expensive” when shopping? What may be expensive to one person may be affordable to a different person. It’s not really about the monetary cost….it’s about the value an item holds for the person buying it.
What feels like a splurge to one person may feel like a steal to someone else.
When something gets labeled as “expensive,” it usually just means someone has decided the value they place on an item doesn’t match the price. The next person may have been looking for this same item and is thrilled with the find and the price.
It comes down to what you value, what you’re searching for, and what you’re willing to pay for it.
I’ve seen people happily pick up a $75 biscuit jar without hesitation, and I’ve also seen others carefully debate spending $28 on a cut glass vase. Value is deeply personal.
Being a booth owner my focus is not on persuading anyone of a piece’s price, but on curating items rich with history, craftsmanship, and character…..objects that can be welcomed into a home and continue their story for years to come.
Not every piece will resonate with every person, and that’s perfectly fine. The right treasure always finds its way to the right home. When something speaks to you, that’s where its true value lies. If it doesn’t, there is always another piece waiting to be discovered.
Instead of measuring these treasures by whether they seem “expensive,” we should appreciate them for their uniqueness and the stories they carry. Everyone deserves the freedom to choose what holds meaning and value in their own space.
My job isn’t to decide what’s “worth it.” It’s simply to offer the pieces, the history, and the beauty—and then let you decide what speaks to you
