πŸ‚πŸŒ± DON'T WAIT UNTIL SPRING TO START YOUR SPRING GARDEN!

Fall is a great time to start a new raised-bed garden or expand the one you already have.

Getting your beds built and in place this fall gives you plenty of time to prepare your garden before planting season arrives:

πŸ‚ Get your beds built before the late-winter & spring rush
🌱 Fill them with soil, compost and organic material
⏳ Give your soil time to settle and develop over the fall and winter
πŸ₯• Be ready to plant when spring arrives instead of just getting started

Our raised garden beds are handcrafted from all-natural Juniper woodβ€”no chemically treated lumber. Juniper is naturally durable and rot-resistant, making it an excellent choice for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers.

I had a job to refinish and repair 130 year old shutters for a century home here in Ferguson. These shutters were made from cypress wood and original. I had to remove rotted sections, replace with new cypress wood, repair louvres, repair the actuator arms, fill stress cracks, and repaint. They turned out great and look new again. This was a fun little project.

I recently had the pleasure of restoring some original shutters for a century home here in Ferguson. Here is a short video of some of the challenges I ran into with this job. These shutters are between 126 to 130 years old! They were made from cypress wood and had layers of paint on them. I stripped each down, repaired all broken pieces, filled all stress cracks, repaired all louvres and the mechanism to make them work, and then repainted.

Before and After

I got to refresh 4 bourbon barrel Adirondack hairs I made years ago. The chairs had been outside in direct sunlight for years. The sun light actually ate the outdoor polyurethane finish. I’m sanded them all down to bare wood, filled any cracks that had opened, and refinished with a penetrating oil finish. The wood underneath the gray was still in perfect condition. No stain was used and look at the color. οΏΌThe tung oil will feed the wood from the inside out and offer protection from graying for a few years before needing to be reapplied.

I had a a neat job this week. I was approached by a contractor building a home in the Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. The home is for a client who is looking for their forever home. The contractor brought bricks to me from the old home where the couple had lived with their children. The plan was to engrave each of the three children’s initials in bricks from the old home and those bricks will be used in a wall in the new home. What a cool idea. I was very happy to help make that happen.

I finished a neat project this week. The customer had a patio that at one time had something settling on concrete just off the patio. The concrete footing was still there. The client wanted something to go in that spot and complete the patio. It needed to be tall and fit on top of the footing. I did a 13 ft long by 3 ft wide, and 30 inches tall bed to set in the spot. This finishes enclosing the patio and gives them a garden space as well. The client was very happy with how it turned out.

First thing first, this is not the fireplace this mantle was built for, it is my fireplace and it is smaller than the fireplace the mantle is for. Now I can talk about this mantle. It t was built to fit over the top of a brick fireplace. The fireplace did not have a wood top and the customer wanted a rustic wood mantle top. The wood is white oak from a 100 plus year old barn in Herman, Mo. The wood had turned this beautiful shade of brown from over 100 years of exposure to the air. It is truly seasoned by time. I put a coat of clear satin polyurethane on top of it. I was very happy with how this turned out.
