Learning to knit has given me a place to slow down, relax, and forget about the stresses of the world for a little while. But being a new knitter can also feel intimidating. When you’re still learning, even one mistake can feel overwhelming.
The other day, I dropped stitches that unraveled through four rows. I was so discouraged that I laid my project down. I didn’t know how to fix it, and normally, I would have given up and ripped everything out.
At four o’clock this morning, I woke up and kept looking at it, hoping someone would come into the store later and help me. Then I thought, “I can figure this out. I know I can do it.”
After watching a couple of videos, slowing down, and taking my time…look what I did, I fixed it!
It may seem like something small, but I felt so proud and accomplished. I didn’t give up, I fixed my mistake, and now I know what to do the next time it happens.
Sometimes the most beautiful part of learning isn’t getting everything right, it’s discovering that you can recover when something goes wrong. 🧶❤️
