Planning a theater room and want to know it’s being designed around measurements rather than habit? HAA’s Pro/Dealer Locator connects homeowners with certified professionals who’ve completed our training and use standards-based calibration on every project. And if you’re the kind of person who wants to understand the science behind great sound yourself, HAA’s free enthusiast membership is built for exactly that.

HAA Link brings processor calibration controls directly into CinemaTools, so measurement and adjustment happen in a single interface instead of switching between a measurement app and an onscreen menu. Built around CEDIA’s RP22 and RP32 calibration standards, it’s designed to make rigorous, standards-based tuning accessible to integrators at any experience level, not only specialists who’ve spent years building a manual workflow. For dealers evaluating where acoustic calibration fits as a service line, that’s a meaningfully lower barrier to a segment of the business that’s traditionally been hard to scale. HAA Link is now available as standard in the AudioControl Home Audio Hyperion APR-16 processor.

The HAA Home Theater Certification Course is built around a simple idea: great-sounding rooms are engineered, not guessed at. Over several hands-on days, dealers and integrators work through the full discipline of home theater acoustics, including speaker placement theory, room mode behavior, and measurement-based calibration, and how to turn all of it into a repeatable process clients can trust. Certification changes how a project gets designed starting at the first walkthrough, not just how it sounds at the end.

Bass problems are rarely about the subwoofer…they’re about the room. A rectangular space reinforces certain low frequencies more than others based on its dimensions, creating peaks and nulls before any equipment is even involved. Measuring those room modes is what tells you whether the fix is subwoofer placement, acoustic treatment, or both.

Before you touch a single EQ setting, check your speaker triangle. Equal distance from your listening position to each of your left and right speakers, angled slightly inward toward your ears, does more for stereo imaging than almost any adjustment that follows. Get the geometry right first, because everything else in the room is built on top of it.

There are a few seats left in the October HAA Home Theater Certification Course, so get yours before they are gone.

October 5-8 at the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino in Henderson, NV, with HAA founder Gerry Lemay leading the training. The Level Two (HT2) and Level Three (HT3) workshops run consecutively across four days, with time dedicated to current measurement technology and plenty of listening sessions. Training covers basic through advanced design and calibration for home cinema, media rooms, immersive audio, and 2-channel, plus the most current thinking on small room acoustics including new elements from CEDIA's RP-22 standards.

New students need to be enrolled in the HAA Home Cinema Technical Primer online class to attend the workshops. THX Home Theater Level One students are also eligible for the advanced training.

Congratulations to AudioControl Home Audio on two Best New Hardware wins at the 2026 CEDIA Smart Home Awards Americas, announced last week at CEDIA Expo in Denver. The Hyperion APR-16 and the Hyperion Axis10 10-Channel eARC AoIP Processor both took the category.

The APR-16 recognition is one we are especially excited about. The 16-channel immersive processor includes HAA Link acoustic optimization software, which puts HAA-based room optimization directly on the platform an integrator is already specifying for the theater.

For HAA-trained calibrators, that means fewer steps between design intent and measured performance in the room. It also says something about where the category is heading. Manufacturers building at this level are treating acoustic optimization as core to the product rather than an accessory to it.

Congratulations to the AudioControl team on both wins.

You've heard about HAA Link and how it can unlock a new revenue stream for home technology integrators through simplified but professional acoustic calibration. Now, you can see it in person. Visit AVPro at booth 1500 to demo the technology in the Hyperion APR-16 home theater processor. You may see HAA's own Gerry Lemay there, who is nearby for those who want to discuss this new feature.

We're honored that Residential Systems gave four pages of its September issue to HAA Link in the feature "Unlocking Professional Audio Precision." Home Acoustics Alliance founder Gerry Lemay talks with editor Anthony Savona about the origins of HAA Link, which combines in-depth calibration controls with precision measurement tools for direct calibration of a processor. For the first time, AVRs can be fully calibratable; no more time-consuming navigation of AVR menus designed for consumers.
