I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, got to eat lots of good food, and more importantly, spend time with family or loved ones. This year was a little different for us- it's the first year that my Mom hasn't been home for our big family dinner. She had a stroke in May, and has been in a nursing home. I did bring her home on Thursday for a few hours, we had a simple dinner with my 2 adult children, son-in-law (My daughter-in-law had to work), both granddaughters and my husband and I- I figured a few close family members wouldn't overwhelm her. She would love to be home full time, and I will be bringing her home in the future for more family events. On Saturday, we had our big family Thanksgiving dinner, where my in-laws (mother-in-law, 2 brothers in law, 2 nieces and a nephew) drove a very long way for a meal. We had a full house, full bellies and got to spend time together- the things that make memories. We did something new this year- prime rib- oh, my goodness! That may be our new go-to for holiday meals! So delicious!
Today here in Nebraska, it is snowy and cold! Quite the change since yesterday! We are curled up and staying warm- and shortly here will begin baking cookies with my daughter and granddaughter. It is continuing the tradition that I started with my daughter, and she wants to continue with her daughter. I am so thankful for the opportunity to teach my granddaughter to bake, even though she's only 4- I hope to continue this for years to come!
Have a great holiday weekend!
